Unasked Family (Korean Drama, New)

After seven years of being a dutiful daughter-in-law, our heroine dreams of one day to move out of her mother-in-law’s house with her husband and young daughter. Our heroine’s hope is shattered when her reporter husband started investigating a big story and ends up in a car accident. Judging by the show’s promo poster I am afraid the husband is not going to survive the car accident especially since the hero is a young man who has a heart condition and needs a heart transplant…hmm…wait, is the hero going to get the husband’s heart??

Anyhow, this is a K-daily so the first four episodes were mostly spent on introducing the many characters in the story. The first four episodes weren’t particularly memorable but it has been ages since I have followed a K-daily so I am going to give this one a bit more time before I make my decision.

A science geek through and through, our hero who has no romantic experience at all has finally fallen in love for the very first time after meeting our heroine, a cook in his college’s cafeteria. Completely clueless of how to handle this “love” thing, our hero turns to experiments and wild fantasies for help.

Pretty wacky and frankly a bit odd (it is a J-drama after all). Unfortunately, not the type of show that would interest me.

VIP (Korean Drama, New)

Jang Na Ra and Park Sung Joon’s new drama! I have to admit I had a difficult time getting excited about a show focused on extramarital affairs but hey, if anyone could make such a subject exciting Park Sung Joon is the man for the job. As hesitant as I was about the story, I did find myself intrigued right away by the many secrets surrounding…well, just about every single person our heroine works with. Judging by the first two episodes, the story is not so much about our hero’s extramarital affair but more about the many secrets that will bed revealed as our heroine tries to discover the truth of her husband’s fidelity.

I am still a bit hesitant about following this one but I liked the first two episodes enough to see where the story goes from here.

Catch the Ghost (Korean Drama)

Determined to find her twin sister who has gone missing, our heroine becomes a rookie detective in hopes of revealing the secrets hidden in the subway. Thanks to her tendency to ignore police protocols when her sense of justice takes over, our heroine is in constant trouble with her department heads but luckily, our hero, who is our heroine’s team leader is always there to help her out.

Because of the show’s name, I totally went in this one thinking it will have ghosts so I was just a tad bit disappointed when I realized this was more of a criminal mystery instead of the supernatural kind. My little disappointments aside, I did like the show’s easy comic vibe and the two leads’ cute but comfortable chemistry together.

Due to an accident, our hero, a young college student ends up having to assume his brother’s identity as an elite CEO who supposedly had just returned from overseas. Quite clueless on how to act like an “elite CEO” our hero decides to lead in his…um…unique style. Our heroine is a career woman who after a rather unpleasant meeting with our hero at a marriage meet (our hero was pretending to be his older brother) will end up working with our hero at his new job.

For those who are faithful followers of C-dramas, both of our leads should be fairly familiar since Alan Yu and Mao Xiaotong have played quite a few memorable secondary characters in their past roles. (Alan Yu was in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms and Mao Xiaotong was in Just One Smile is Very Alluring.) Which is why it is great to see both of these actors finally playing leading roles here.

By the way, looks like the older brother will eventually assume his younger brother’s identity as well so both brothers will get their own romance line.
