Unrequited Love (Chinese Drama)
Handsome and smart, our hero is somewhat shy when it comes to dealing with girls despite being quite popular with them. Intrigued by a girl he met in his college who keeps catching his attention, our hero is clueless that our heroine has actually been harboring a long time crush on him since high school.
I went into this one with really a low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the dry humor and strong character development. I really like the fact that instead of making our heroine into some bubbly girl who is over the moon to have our hero finally noticing her, our heroine is hesitant because she remembers vividly the heartache of hiding in the shadow watching over a boy who has no clue she even exists. While I think crushes could be fun and full of excitement, I think a lot of times crushes could also be extremely painful so I was really glad to see a show highlighting a different kind of young love. It also intrigued me that according to the show’s synopsis once our hero finds out about our heroine’s long time crush on him, he in turn will be the one who is anxious that perhaps he is not the man our heroine imagined him to be.
Angel’s Last Mission: Love (Korean Drama)
I am caught up to Episode 6 on this one and is enjoying quite a bit. I had initially thought maybe the second male lead could turn out to be our heroine’s Mr. Right so that if our hero ended up having to go back to Heaven, it wouldn’t be too terrible…but it’s starting to not looking that way at all. Sigh, I really wasn’t planning on following this…and is still not too sure about it even now since I can totally see this one with a tear jerker ending.
Over the Sea I Come To You (Chinese Drama, New)
I (and a lot of other people) are quite stunned that this show was actually allowed to air because the story centers on three families’ experiences as their kids study in the US. Judging by the amount of Chinese news coverage especially focused on the misfortunes that befall on Chinese nationals while traveling/living in foreign countries (most often US/Canada), it seems pretty clear the C-government would not be too pleased with a drama all about college students studying abroad. However, surprisingly or not, the show IS airing…albeit, judging by the first episode, I wonder how many Chinese parents are going to decide it is simply too dangerous to send their precious kids out to the wild wild west.
Fall In Love (Chinese Drama, New)
A spoiled rich boy on the surface, our hero in actuality has a very gentle and tender side to him. Meeting our heroine at various places, each time with her working a different job, our hero’s attention is caught by our very mysterious heroine.
Sigh…I tried watching this one…I truly did but I just couldn’t ignore the fact that the hero’s friends are all better looking and more intriguing than him.
Listening Snow Tower (Chinese Drama, Finished)
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been too chicken to follow this one but hasn’t forgotten about it so I was quick to watch the last episode when it finished and is really glad to say that I can now safely put this one on my “to marathon” list.

Hm…Unrequitted Love sounds like my cup of tea. I would have overseen that with all that Crush Youth Dramas around. I surely will peek into that. Thanks
Listening snow tower… I was all prepared for massive tragedy. And when I finally realized with 10 episodes to go that every single couple up to that point all ended with either one or both die, I thought that was it! So glad I was wrong.
I really like this story line. It got draggy in the last 10 episodes, and I still cannot get over the fact that I just did not like the main female lead, but YingQi makes up for it. There were some seriously crazy side characters that made no sense. QianLan I want to slap upside his head, and I just want to asked WHY?
But the BEST part of this story besides YingQi and his elder sect brother is the fight between the leads. They are pretty cruel and know how to push each other’s buttons. Granted, YingQi is the epitome of the silent male archetype. Great to watch on screen but they will drive you to drink in real life…unless you have the ability to read minds 🙂
Just finished watching Listening Snow Tower and I loved it!
Could it have been better? Definitely!
But then shows hardly go on like the way we want them to…I’ve accepted that fact. As long as they maintain their plot trajectory and ensure that the main couple have a happy ending….’m satisfied.
And Snow Tower did that for the most part…..I mean it did kill off so many couples/characters towards the end…..
On more than one occassion I wondered, what the hero saw in the heroine to be so slavihly devoted to her. Her ‘legendary’ skills always landed her in a soup from which the poor guy had to save her at the cost of his own life and limb.
One thing that Gao Meng Fai said was 100% true ‘Jing was lucky, very luck indeed’! If not for people dying to protect her, she would have ended up dead or a zombie million times already!!
Ignoring the glaring loopholes, I have one serious gripe with the show….I wanted a kiss between the main leads where both of them were awake and sober. The only time these two have ‘kissed’ is when either of them is transferring their internal energy to the other or feeding medicine….lol.
If anyone asks…I’ll still recommend the show.
Your comment about Fall In Love (2019) hahahaha. I slogged on and I found it bearable because this happens to be one of the shows that promote the side characters more than they do the leads. And because everyone is so good looking, I didn’t mind whenever people who aren’t the leads show up on my screen. I do like the premise of the story quite a lot though. Female lead isn’t your typical damsel in distress and she is very poised, unflappable, and kicks ass (in her low-key, effective sort of way). Plus there are hints that she isn’t really a Cinderella (that the media in the show is portraying her to be) and may be even richer than the male lead. 😛
I actually was intrigued by the premise as well and you are right about the heroine’s character being very cool. Maybe I will give it another go…and just try to ignore the hero.
