Search: WWW (Korean Drama, New)

After devoting her youth to her company, our heroine could hardly believe when the boss she has admired since she was a newbie all those years ago, coldly orders her to become the company’s scapegoat. Extremely good at her job as a director at a search engine platform, our heroine is not about to give up on her ambitions and her own brand of justice. In the midst of a very trying and confusing time that should’ve taken all her attention, our heroine could hardly believe herself when her little heart begins to swoon over a much younger man…one who she accidentally spent a night with.

At first glance (for the first 20 minutes of episode 1), this show looked like it will be heavy on business conspiracy but much to my joy, the story manages to spend quite a bit of time on our heroine’s swoon-worthy romance. I was again pleasantly surprised by episode two to realize that while the story will have some conspiracy of the rich and powerful but the focus of the story is actually on our heroine’s unlikely friendship with other equally strong female leads.

This show is quite ambitious in that it tries to cram business conspiracy, BFF friendships, our heroine’s career and of course, her romance all into one package. It is a bit too early to tell, but going by the first two episodes I think Search: WWW just might achieve what I thought was impossible and balance all those elements together.

Perfume (Korean Drama)

Her beautiful youth a distant memory, our heroine, as an overweight middle age woman who is about to be divorced by her husband, our heroine don’t see any point of living anymore. Confused to get a mysterious package containing a single bottle of perfume while she is in the middle of popping sleeping pills, our heroine decides to put on the perfume…and much to her shock finds herself transformed back into her young and beautiful self. As her young, thin and beautiful self, our heroine will end up becoming a model after meeting our hero- a successful designer who is quite picky and rude. Of course this doesn’t mean our heroine is now off to her worry-free new life since a drop of the miracle perfume could only last so long before her body reverts back to her overweight middle-aged self.

I thought the first two episodes were decent but I don’t see myself following this one.

Joseon Survival (Korean Drama, New)

Once an archer carrying the nation’s hope to win an Olympic gold medal, our hero’s (played by Kang Ji Hwan) bright future falls apart when tragedy hits his family and his loss of a gold medal causes him to break up with our heroine. Years later, his glory days a thing of the past, our hero puts away his archery and begins working as a delivery man. Meeting our heroine unexpectedly when she and her very successful fiance get into a car accident, our hero rushes everyone at the scene towards the hospital…and ends up traveling back in time to Joseon in the year of 1562.

In Joseon, our hero will end up meeting Lim Kkuck Jung, a butcher who is considered in his time period as belonging to the lowest social class. Fed up with the injustice around him, our hero together with Lim Kkuck Jung will work together to change history.

This one is a bit darker than I expected (it does have Kang Ji Hwan after all so there are still some light moments to offset the dark) but judging by the first two episodes, the story and the cast look to be quite solid.

Bureau of Transformers (Chinese Drama)

For those who like movies such as Man In Black this one should be right up your alley because the show’s storyline and wacky comedic vibe reminded me of that movie. Our hero is an ordinary vet who witnessed a whole “incident” where our heroine chased down a cat who transformed into a being with a cat’s head on a human-like body. When the Bureau’s “memory eraser” device fails to work on our hero, he is promptly dragged into the Bureau of Transformers to be the newest newbie to help in the cause of apprehending “Transformers” who commits crimes
