Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency (Korean Drama, New)

Despite being the only son of a powerful nobleman, our hero refuses to bend to the will of his estranged father and continues to run a famous matchmaking agency called Flower Crew with his two other friends (also men). Moved by a humble blacksmith who continues to plead for his service after countless rejections from him, our hero eventually agrees to the blacksmith’s request to be a matchmaker between the young blacksmith and his beloved. What our hero thought would be an easy job turns out to be quite complicated when the young blacksmith disappears on the day of the wedding and reappear in front of our hero again as the new emperor who still very much wants to marry the girl he has loved all his life…but since it is no longer possible for him to marry a commoner as the new emperor, the Flower Crew’s new mission is to make the blacksmith/emperor’s beloved into a noblewoman.

Boy, I really liked the young blacksmith/the new emperor’s character and how devoted he is to our heroine so I was afraid for a little bit that I wouldn’t be able to get behind shipping our two leads’ pairing. However, by the end of the second episode, all doubt was gone because as much as I can foresee feeling really badly for the male second lead, the chemistry between our two leads is so cute that I think I can handle a bit of guilt.

Based on the show’s title and the trailers I had expected this one to be all fun and fluffy so I was a bit surprised by the serious palace intrigue at the beginning of the first episode. Judging by how the first two episodes went, I think (or at least I am hoping) the show’s overall vibe will still be fairly light and fun even if there will be at least be some political stuff from time to time.

The Running Mates: Human Rights

Nicked named the “Crazy Prosecutor”, our hero is reassigned to work with the Human Rights Commission after he lands himself in some hot waters due to his tendency to let his fist do the talking. In stark contrast to our hero, our heroine is an experienced investigator who tends to come across as uncaring but that’s only because she is careful to let the evidence do the talking instead of letting her personal emotions sway her judgment.

This one has an interesting vibe. The tone is fairly serious but somehow the show still makes me want to laugh…even when nothing seems particularly comical. Judging by the fact that this show put out a few serious posters AND a few funny quirky ones, it looks like the serious yet comical vibe is exactly what the producers were going for.

Nine Kilometers of Love (Chinese Drama)

After a rather unpleasant flight of sitting next to our hero, our heroine rushes to her mother’s funeral and was stunned when she was informed that her mother had locked up all her inheritance into a trust fund- a fund that will be managed by someone she has never met. Left with no choice but to trust a complete stranger, our heroine suffers yet another shock when her trust fund’s manager turns out to be our hero’s father.

No less dismayed than our heroine to come home and find the rude stranger he met on the plane has now taken over his room, our hero protests are ignored by his father who reminds our hero he will soon be living in the dorm at the flight school.

Forced to find a job now that most of her inheritance is locked up, our heroine will eventually join the same airline company as our hero and begin their bickering romance.

The drama is set around the pilot training school so besides our two leads, the story will also follow a few of other characters in the training school.

When the Camellia Blooms (Korean Drama, New)

As a young single mother, our heroine arrived in a small community to opened a small drinking pub and instead of failing within the first few months as her new neighbors had expected, our heroine’s quint little business has been sufficiently successful to provide for herself and her young son. Our heroine’s quiet life suddenly gets rowdy when three very different men begin to show interest in her. Judging by the posters…I think the hero is the policeman who jumps in without thinking whenever he sees injustice.

With Gong Hyo Jin starring as our heroine, I had expected this one to be on the lighter side or at the very least have a quirky sort of humor….and the show is certainly both of those things…BUT what’s up with a psycho killer on the loose AND the disturbing hint that our heroine will end up getting killed by the psycho killer?! By the way, I am not really giving much away since the very first scene of the first episode opens with a police crime scene with what the show wants us to think should be our heroine’s dead body. I am assuming, despite all the “hints”, the dead body will somehow not be our heroine’s. I mean, the show is not perverted enough to make us watch 32 episodes of how our heroine finally finds her true love only to say “um, we told you right from the start that she’ll end up dead.” right??

Pegasus Market (Korean Drama, New)

The store manager of a dilapidated grocery store named Pegasus Market, 29 year old Jeong Bok Dong is overjoyed when he realized the corporate office has sent one of the company’s founding member to be the market’s new CEO. Bok Dong’s joy soon turns to total bewilderment when the new CEO’s first action is to hire some rather unconventional employees. Unbeknownst to Bok Dong, his new CEO has a secret plan- to take revenge against his boss.

This show is bizarre…so bizzare that I find it hilarious! Actor Kim Byung Chul plays the new CEO in this one. Kim Byung Chul played the creepy ghost villain in Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and I remembered getting the creepy vibe every time he showed up on the screen but he must be an awesome actor, because while Kim Byung Chul’s character in this one is fairly stoic and strange but he makes me want to laugh in every one of his scenes.
