Let’s Go Crazy on LIVE! (Taiwanese Drama, New)

As an ordinary girl whose biggest dream is only to secure a steady government job to support her aging grandpa, our heroine’s world is turned upside down when she is pulled into a bet between the CEO of a very successful internet platform company and a super popular online personality. Believing our hero must be joking when he promises to make her into an intent celebrity, our heroine wants nothing to do with the ridiculous bet…yet a small voice keeps nagging at her that this is her chance to stop hiding from the world.

Episode one was a bit shaky. The editing wasn’t great and the overall feel the show felt a bit cheap. However, the two leads are cute enough together that I am going to give this one another two weeks and see if it improves.

Kiss Love and Taste (Chinese Drama, New)

Our hero is a famous chef who has lost his sense of taste and could only rely on his perfectionist personality to continue cooking. In stark contrast to our hero’s perfectionist approach to cooking, our heroine is an aspiring chef who likes to cook according to her mood…which often produce inedible results. As you all can guess, despite our two leads’ extreme different attitudes on cooking our hero will soon discover…through an accidental kiss that our heroine is the key to recovering his long lost taste buds.

Hmm…the show is not bad but it wasn’t particularly memorable either. Still, if you like cooking-themed romantic dramas then I think this might be worth checking out anyway.

Right Here Waiting for You (Chinese Drama, New)

Stunned when he suddenly finds himself transported back to the year of 1998, our 37 year old hero excitedly wants to tell his 17 year old about the future…but dejectedly realizes he doesn’t have the heart to tell his younger self that at the ripe age of 37, he has no wife, no car and is stuck teaching at a college only because that’s what his mother wanted him to do as a career. Given a second chance to figure out what exactly went wrong with his life, our hero will discover things about his past that he had overlooked the first time around.

This one stands out from your usual “back to the past” shows because it actually has the hero’s present self working with the past self. The show’s vibe also reminds me a bit of J-drama’s Operation Love since our hero also has a friend who he hasn’t been able to confess to since his high school days.

You Are My Answer (Chinese Drama, New)

A veteran detective in the crimes division, our hero’s first meeting with our heroine is nothing short of disastrous when she accidentally walks into his sting operation and becomes a hostage he has to risk his life to save. Not exactly grateful to our hero especially after he mistakenly assumes she must be working as a call girl, our heroine is dismayed when she soon finds herself pulled into yet another criminal case that requires our hero to move into her apartment.

For those who were fans of Story of Yanxi Palace, it would be fun to see actress Bai Xiao Lu playing a modern character. I was personally impressed that she looked great in both period Chinese costumes and modern clothes. Usually, most actors and actresses tend to look better in one than the other.

Bai Xiao Lu’s character in this one is a tad bit too dizzy for my taste…at least in the first episode. I am assuming once the background set up is done, our heroine’s character should become more likable so I am going to give this one another couple episodes.
