My Girlfriend is an Alien (Chinese Drama)
Trapped on earth when she accidentally loses her communication device after saving our hero from a fiery car accident, our heroine goes on a search to find a way back home…that is if she doesn’t keep getting distracted by our hero’s delicious smelling pheromone. (Apparently, on our heroine’s planet, the human male’s hormone is like a drug.) In case the show is not fantastical enough for you, due to a childhood traumatic experience, our hero will forget the women who appear around him when it rains.
The synopsis is a bit crazy sounding…but this one is really really cute! The story is obviously fairly light and fun but dang, the chemistry between our two leads is simply sizzling. Oh, did I mention how cute it is? If you are in the mood for some romantic comedy that is squeal-worthy, then this is it. You can find this one on Youtube-English subbed even!
Walk Into Your Memory (Chinese Drama, New)
After mysteriously losing a year worth memory years ago, our hero is left with the inability to suffer the smallest touch from any woman. Tormented by a recurring nightmare where he might’ve done something terrible to an unknown woman, our hero decides to enlist the help of our heroine- his newest employee (a chef’s assistant) who has the ability to see people’s memory.
The synopsis sounds a bit melo but the show’s vibe is actually pretty light-hearted. The heroine’s character has too little sense of self-preservation (she told the hero her secret power on their third meeting) for my taste but the story itself was decent.
Graceful Family (Korean Drama, New)
As the sole heiress of the MC Group fortune, our heroine should be living every girl’s dream life. However, hunted by her mother’s mysterious death 15 years ago, our heroine returns to Korean after her long banishment of living overseas. Returning to Korea against her family’s expressed wishes, our heroine teams up with our hero- a humble neighborhood lawyer who runs his little law practice out of his father’s restaurant.
I was a bit confused by the first episode especially since the first 20 minutes of it was spent on introducing the TOP crisis management team whose sole mission is to get our heroine’s family (the Mo family of the MC Group) out of any misdeeds they have done. By the time our two leads show up about 1/3 way into the show, I had already prepared myself to watch a spy movie/Mission Impossible story of how to get the rich and powerful out of tough spots. Realizing my mistake once the two leads finally showed up, I figured we are finally back on track for “Heroine on a quest to find out the frightening family secret behind her mother’s death”…. until the TOP crisis management team shows up with their men in black uniform and high tech gear.
Now, I am not ready to write off Graceful Family just because I can’t quite pigeonhole it to a specific genre. The show does have a quirky dark humor vibe that I liked so I am hoping all the different elements would mesh well together once the backstory is set up.
Love Alarm (Korean Drama)
Set in a world where an app will ring if someone close to you likes you. Our heroine’s world is turned upside down when the newly transferred student- a handsome model who is liked by all the girls in the school, unexpectedly kisses her. To make this just a bit more complicated, our heroine starts the show with a boyfriend, and it looks like our hero’s best friend also harbors a long-time crush on our heroine.
I am not feeling this one. The connection between our two leads was a bit too abrupt and out of nowhere for me. I am all for instant attraction but I don’t think I am ready for “let’s just find a corner and make out” when our two leads are still complete strangers AND high school students. The show is also a bit…depressing. It kinda felt like I was watching a Batman movie with everything so dark and gloomy.
Be Melodramatic (Korean Drama)
Three 30 year old women who have been friends since their college days end up living together as they support each other through the ups and downs that is called life.
The synopsis sounds pretty boring but I really liked this one. Episode one had me crying but then episode two had me laughing out loud constantly. It’s one of those that make your heart ache but laugh at the same time and leave you feeling like: Yes, life gives you lemons but let’s just make lemonade out of it.
Oh, I should mention that it looks like we will at least have two romance lines and both of them look fun.

I instantly fell for Alien Girlfriend after watching only the trailer. It is so so so cute my laptop is almost turning pink when I watch it. And even when the Someone Like You shower scene still is my favorite in a Drama ever, we finally have some actor again with enough meat on the bones for the right amount of muscles and maleness. The directing of this show is so good that we don’t have to suffer through awkward touch or stiff scences, even when the editing is a bit sloppy, but for an Webdrama it is okay.
What I have seen from the previews and MV there will be melo scences too but as long it isn’t too dragging it is okay since it will add the needed spice to the fluff festival. As far as I can see from the Trailer he is needed to send her back and he does.
Hm, Walk into your Memory wasn’t on my possible watchlist yet but I surely will watch a few episodes soon.
Alien Girlfriend is hilarious. I was just thinking earlier today that I hadn’t been on your site, neither have I watched a Chinese/Taiwanese drama nor a Japanese one in ages. Thank you for the review; I was hooked like Xiaoqiqi on male pheromones in one episode. It’s nice to have a heroine that shows some form of lust, how could she not, ‘unscrupulous business man’ is hot!
Welcome back! I love the heroine in Alien Girlfriend as well! That show makes me squeal…then blush.
