This week’s episode was surprisingly funny. In contrast to the intense attraction we’ve had from our two leads in the previous episodes, this one is where we start to see them genuinely enjoying each other’s company.
Favorite Scenes:
#1 How cute are our two leads here! By the way, I can vouch that those massages are killer. Mama Ninja likes to retell an experience where she went to Thailand on a vacation (back when she was young) and naively got a massage. Mama Ninja said it was so painful that she tried to run away but the massage therapist just pushed her back down.
This scene is quite meaningful because this is the first time Kehuan showed his vulnerability to Wei Wei and asked for her to comfort him simply as a friend. In turn, this is the first time Wei Wei has pull down her guard (at least for a little bit) and voluntarily spent time with Kehuan.
#2 Can’t help but love the scene where a drunk Wei Wei lists off all the reasons she dislikes Kehuan but really just exposing her true feelings which is why our hero’s eyes soften in tenderness and happiness with each reason she gives. I really wished Kehuan could’ve gotten a kiss here but it served him right to have Wei Wei’s bff step in to protect our heroine’s lips.
#3 Our hero’s eyes when Wei Wei took off her bra… I had to rewind to watch his expression again…and again.
#4 Kefei’s interaction with Bai Yang is always hilarious but I especially loved it when Kefei gets all furious in this scene not because Bai Yang dared to enter into her room but rather she was severely offended he could resist her enough to sleep on the floor.
#5 Anyone else as surprised as me when Kehuan walked out of Kefei’s room to confront 321? I liked this scene because it really showed Kehuan’s feelings for Wei Wei has grown to such an extent he can no longer be rational when it comes to her.
A few thoughts:
- Going by 321’s obvious reluctance during his talk with Kefei in the last episode I thought for sure the storyline would make a big deal over whether or not he is going to quit. So it was pretty surprising when 321 all the sudden announced his engagement to Wei Wei and quits his job. My first reaction was “Wow, 321 is actually stepping up!” But then what followed soon had me changing my mind. What 321 did was nothing short of throwing Wei Wei under the bus while setting himself up as the good guy. 321 was leaving his job in a hurry obviously because he has found a brighter future elsewhere but instead of admitting his real reason for leaving his team in a lurch, he lets everyone believe he is sacrificing himself so Wei Wei could stay at the company. Seemingly completely unconcerned Wei Wei now has to face all the blame of HIS sudden departure, 321 instead has the guts to wonder why Wei Wei is not supportive of him?! I can’t see 321 purposefully hurting Wei Wei but it feels even more disturbing that he truly doesn’t seem to understand how selfish he is being.
- Looks like the show is setting something up between 321 and his new boss. I am a bit torn by this particular twist. On one hand, I don’t feel like the show should/need to make 321 into a bad guy to justify our heroine’s change of heart. On the other hand, I am actually quite intrigued by what choice 321 would make.
- This was a pivotal episode for our hero who has finally admitted both to himself and to Wei Wei that he likes her to the point that it was foolish he ever thought he could forget her. So why is our heroine still in denial? While I think Kefei and Bai Yang’s little hospital stunt made it difficult for our heroine to continue to lie to herself but it makes sense why Wei Wei is still trying to bury her head in the sand. When our two leads’ first met, Kehuan’s relationship with his girlfriend is already broken but that wasn’t the case for Wei Wei. There might have been a lot of problems with Wei Wei and 321’s relationship but most of the issues have been either ignored or have yet surfaced so in Wei Wei’s mind, she was perfectly happy with her boyfriend. Therefore, any sensible girl is going to think twice about throwing away a relationship she has put all her energy into for the last three years….especially if the alternative is a rich boy who is probably just out for a fling and will eventually marry his rich perfect girlfriend. (Bai Yang has already touched on the fact that marrying Ziyuan will obviously be much more helpful to Kehuan than an ordinary nobody like Wei Wei.)

Loving the show and the interplay of relationships here.
I loved all the scenes you mentioned plus the one where Kehuan voices his displeasure to his ex for her actions. The girl is truly unwilling to listen & learn. He is telling her what she did wrong, still she kept asking what wrong did she do….coz in her mind she ‘helped’ Kehuan out of a sticky situation & saved his job as well as his reputation! Not willing to see or undestand Kehuan’s point of view. Her excuse that she is doing everything for Kehuan’s benefit is wearing thin on me….and ‘m just 5 episodes in…poor Kehuan is suffering this for the past 10 years!
Seeing her offering to show 321 all the facilities & then introduce him to all the apartment facilitators made me realize that the girl is genuinely helpful. But with Kehuan she has dialed her helpfulness onto maximum turning her into a sociopath who is extremely manipulative wearing a veneer of docile innocense and expert in playing the poor victim.
Both 321 and Kehyan’s ex are obviously puzzled because they can’t understand what rocked their boat and brought voice to their previously quiet partner,
Next week the ex is gonna find out about Wei Wei…..I can’t wait to find out how Wei Wei will tackle the ‘forever victim’s’ emotional blackmail/guilt tripping.
I also think the Wei Wei and Kehuan had accepted their live, partners, and their behavior as their normal until they met each other!
Before I leave can I just say how much I love Kefei…I absolutely adore her…she is an absolute gem. I like Bai Yang too and understand where he is coming from…. every one should have friends like this….especially like Kefei, who has no qualms calling a Spade a Spade.
Thanks for the episode impression and a place to gush about this show!
My fear is that Wei Wei is going to take the whole guilt thing from the girlfriend really really hard. Wei Wei really doesn’t know a whole lot about our hero’s relationship with his girlfriend. The only thing Wei Wei knows is that Ziyuan has faithfully stayed by our hero’s side for 10 years and is very helpful to his career. I think Wei Wei could obviously guess our hero is not exactly happy in his relationship but in our heroine’s mind, she would still be doing something very shabby to her college friend who has devoted the last ten years of her life to her boyfriend.
I so agree…..Wei Wei’s personality is as such that she’ll feel guilty for ‘ruining’ Ziyuan’s happiness even though the relationship is not a happy one!
She did feel guilty for 321 quitting his job when his ass of an ex-boss came screaming.
Yeah yeah, you are sooo bad. I picked up that Drama yet too and, of course, I like it. Do you know how long Taiwan Drama take to air? *sigh*
Okay, let’s fawn over our OTP and let’s get rid of those obstacles…even when I think it will take a long draggin way.
I adore her BFF. She is in denial too but in a lot less dramatic way.
