Lots of people getting slapped or punched in this episode! Thanks to ruckus Ziyuan made at her work, Wei Wei is forced to acknowledge that she can’t continue to fool herself about our hero anymore. Much to her BFF’s disappointment, Wei Wei decides to break things off with Kehuan once and for all. I find it interesting that according to what Wei Wei told Kefei, the core of her fear seem to be that she can’t accept what everyone would think of her if she really chooses our hero over 321.

At first glance, it seems crazy and immature for our heroine to make such a big decision as who she is going to spend her life based on what everyone else would think. After all, everyone else is not going to be stuck in a marriage with 321 for life but she will be. However, the more I thought about what our heroine said the more I think the real hurdle is that Wei Wei herself will not be able to accept herself if she chose Kehuan. The brief happy moments with Kehuan aside, most of the time Wei Wei dislikes and berates herself for being shaken by Kehuan. In the last episode, Wei Wei kept telling Kehuan that she dislikes him but in reality, the one she truly dislikes is herself. With that in mind, I am actually glad that the scriptwriter is not pushing forward with the pairing between 321 and his new boss. If 321 cheats on Wei Wei now, then our heroine would be given an easy out from the relationship but I think it makes for a much more interesting story to push our heroine to figure out what she really wants for her life.

I was both surprised but then not really to see Kehuan firing Bai Yang. Surprised because Bai Yang seems to be your standard hero’s trusty sidekick and you just don’t fire your trusty sidekick unless they turn out to be secretly working for the villain. Not so surprised, because our hero has warned Bai Yang repeatedly that he doesn’t need a friend/right-hand man who doesn’t trust his decisions…or worse, tries to make decisions for him. Kefei was the perfect BFF to our heroine in the last two episodes but Bai Yang was the opposite for our hero. Bai Yang forgot that while he could consider Kehuan a friend, but Kehuan is still his boss. No boss will tolerate a subordinate who goes against his orders repeatedly. I am crossing my fingers that Bai Yang doesn’t turn resentful and evil after this…

Wei Wei and 321 has a big fight…that, unfortunately, ended with 321 promising to marry Wei Wei in two months. Judging by the preview for next week, it looks like 321’s flowery promises to start putting Wei Wei first might not have last very long. Our heroine is stuck thinking that if she could just stay away from our hero, then her relationship with 321 would be back on track but of course, that’s not the case. The pandora’s box has already been open and Wei Wei can no longer pretend that she is fine living as 321’s retirement building partner.

By the way, is it just me or is the wedding cookies they were trying out looked a lot like string cheese?? Expensive string cheese as wedding guest gifts?! (I am assuming they are actually cookies…)

True to Kefei’s prediction, the drama gods are not going to let Wei Wei’s plan of staying away from our hero go so smoothly….which is how we ended up with my favorite scene of Wei Wei dragging Kehuan home…then beating him with a pillow to vent her frustration when our completely drunk hero kisses her before falling asleep. I think it is a toss up if Wei Wei was more angry that our hero kissed her or that he fell asleep right after…

*I will be traveling for the next three weeks so I don’t know yet how that will affect Before We Get Married posts. I might be able to write shorter posts or it might have to wait until I am back to having access to steady internet.
