Survival Wedding (Japanese Drama, New)

Happily resigning from her job to get married to her boyfriend of four years just right before she is about to turn 30, our heroine’s blissful future suddenly evaporates into thin air when her boyfriend breaks off the engagement after he is caught cheating by our heroine. With her old job already filled by someone else, our heroine grabs onto her last chance of getting reinstated by agreeing to work for the eccentric chief editor of a popular magazine. Self-proclaiming himself as the greatest love consultant, our heroine new boss demands that she 1. Find a man and marry him within six months. 2. Records her journey so they could publish it in the magazine.

The first episode started out a bit slow but I like the fun and wacky premise so I am planning to give this one a few more chances.
The Good Doctor (Japanese Drama, New)

The J-remake of the Korean Drama of the same name (2013 with Joo Won & Moon Chae Won). I don’t remember a whole lot of the original but from what I could remember, the first episode of the J-remake followed the original story pretty closely. I really like the J-remake’s cast, especially with Juri Ueno as our heroine and Naohito Fujiki as the skillful surgeon who doesn’t believe our hero could cut it as a doctor.
Girl’s Power (Taiwanese Drama, New)

It’s been a while since I have been interested in a T-daily so I was really hoping this one would be a winner. Unfortunately, episode one felt more like a military commercial as it follows a group of newbies adjusting to their new life in a navy training center. Still, I might check back in a couple weeks since I am hoping the commercial vibe should go away once the story set up is done.
The Story of Souls (Chinese Web Drama, New)

Web drama is often more a miss than a hit so I went into this one with low expectations BUT it was surprisingly fun! With this one being a web drama I don’t foresee it being picked up by the big sites for English subs, but the story was so fun that I am going to write a Monday first impression post on it anyway.
Youth (Chinese Drama, New)

I was expecting this to be a fluffy college romance…and it is…sort of. The story starts with our introvert heroine moving into a college apartment with four other roommates. Shy and not used to standing up for herself, our heroine has a big learning curve ahead of her as she tries to adjust to living with four very different girls.

Base on the poster and name, I went into this one thinking it will be about happy youthful dreams and exciting first loves so I was mildly surprised by the show’s angsty vibe. Now, I think the show will include plenty of what I expected but it does look like the story will also tackle some serious issues as well. This drama has been picked up by Viki.com.
Let Me Introduce Her (Korean Drama, New)

With a mysterious past that has her being hunted like an animal, our heroine, out of desperation decides to undergo a drastic plastic surgery to change her appearance completely. Unfortunately, due to an after-effect of the surgery, our heroine loses memory of her past and has to embark on a journey to piece together the past she has forgotten. (The post surgery heroine will be played by actress Nam Sang Mi) The show is a mystery thriller so it is obvious that our heroine’s past won’t be filled with flowers and rainbows. Thus far, the hint we have is that our male second lead is a popular news anchor that seems perfect in every way but in reality, he hides a dark side that no one would have ever imagined.

I wasn’t too interested in this one until I realized Kim Jae Won is in it! Kim Jae Won plays the male lead, the doctor who performed the surgery on our heroine and will end up as her love interest as well. The first few episodes looked decent but it is still way too early to tell if this one will keep my interest since we are still in the story set up stage…but I am crossing my fingers!
