Kaisha wa Gakkou jane-n da yo (Japanese Drama)
Miura Shohei plays our hero who after resolutely joins a company because of his admiration for its CEO is then betrayed by the same CEO. Not one to sit back and just take whatever comes his way, our hero decides to start a company of his own.

Episode one didn’t really capture my interest since I am usually not the type to like this sort of story. However, this one is still worth checking out especially for those who like the sort of stories where the little people get their revenge.

Sunny Again Tomorrow (Korean Daily, New)

The synopsis of this K-daily says it will follow the story of how our heroine starts her own clothing company after being fired from her job. Thanks to the synopsis, I went into this one wondering if this K-daily will be more focus on the heroine’s career journey than the usual K-daily favorite plot lines… but I was quickly proven wrong since there is a birth secret right from the beginning. I was actually a bit relieved because 100+ episode is a tough thing to pull off on a daily without your usual K-daily favorite twist and turns.

Anyhow, too early to tell on this one yet. This one is not striking me as particularly promising but I wasn’t put off by it either.
Wok of Love (Korean Drama, New)

I can’t remember the last time I have seen Jang Hyuk in a solid comedy! Jang Hyuk plays a former gangster who opens up a Chinese restaurant in order to give his men (also former gangsters) a way to make a living legally. Our heroine is played by Jung Ryeo Won who is a bankrupted heiress that is supposed to get married soon but ends up getting sidetracked by our two male leads. Lee Joon Ho (of 2PM) plays a talented chef who after 7 years at the city’s best Chinese restaurant, end up taking over the little dingy Chinese restaurant of the gangster boss.

It took me a bit to get used to the comedic timing but once I did, I was on board.
Rich Man (Korean Drama, New)
Due to a trauma he experienced as a child, our hero is unable to recognize faces but as the CEO of a very successful IT company, our young hero is arrogant and sees no need to let anyone get close to him. Quite content with his life, our hero has no plan on changing his abrasive personality until he meets our heroine, a lowly job seeker who changes everything for him.

I was underwhelmed by the first episode. The story wasn’t terrible but it simply could not keep my attention.
Summer’s Desire (Chinese Drama, New)
Based on a Chinese novel of the same name, you guys might remember this story from the 2010 version with Barbie Hsu, Peter Ho and Huang Xiaoming. The story follows the romantic entanglements between our heroine (a newbie in the entertainment business, determined to make enough money to support her sick brother) and our two male leads. The second male lead is a top star who has been in love with our heroine since her college days but had a pretty messy past with her and her family. Our hero is a very successful CEO who dated our heroine before but ended up losing his memory of her after their very traumatic breakup. For fans of the novel or the 2010 drama, it might be fun to check this new version out and see the different changes the drama has made to the story. Unfortunately, I personally find this particular story too melo (BOTH male leads are very controlling and would love nothing more than to keep the heroine tied to their side…that really creeped me out. Maybe I am just too old to think that as romantic.) for my taste so I am not planning on following it.
Moonshine and Valentine (Chinese Drama, New)
A fantasy romance between our hero who is an immortal alien (of the fox tribe) and his bride, our heroine (normal human) whom he has promised to find in every reincarnation.

I only had time to check the first episode out, but it was fairly fun and light so I will give this one another try later on.
You Drive Me Crazy (Korean Drama, New)

This one is MBC’s special two-episode drama that tells the story of how two best friends ended up being forced to ask some difficult questions after they accidentally slept together. I checked this one out (Viki has it) on a lark and was pleasantly surprised how fun it was. The show from beginning to end is only two hours long so the pacing was really fast but the character development was still great. Check it out if you need something cute to watch this weekend.
