Long Time No See (C-Drama, New)
Chinese actor Zheng Kai’s new C-romance where he plays a rich boy who despite his carefree facade carries an emotional trauma from his parents’ unhappy marriage. Our heroine is a plucky young girl from a poor background who will end up becoming our hero’s biggest supporter when an accidental fall paralyzes his legs and he has to learn the hard way that realizing his dream is still a possibility.
Despite the rather boring “safe” premise with all the stereotypes built in, I liked the first couple episodes. The story and characters are of course pretty predictable but I am strangely not put off by it even if it’s not exactly exciting.
Secret Of The Three Kingdoms (C-Drama, New)
Set in the late Eastern Han Dynasty of China, Secret Of The Three Kingdoms follows our hero’s epic adventure as he is without warning plunged into a power struggle that will determine the future of his nation. Growing up as a commoner, our hero is blissfully unaware that he is actually a twin to the current emperor until he is summoned by his brother to joining in the fight against a warlord who is so powerful that he has the control of the palace.

I haven’t been interested in palace intrigue for the last bit but this one does look intriguing especially with the number of very strong female character in the story.

A Poem A Day (C-Drama, New)
Well, I guess it was long overdue that we have a medical drama that is not about surgeons and ER doctors but focuses instead on the often overlooked hardworking professionals in the hospital: physical therapists, nurses, radiological technologists and trainees.
Our heroine is a contract employee at the hospital working as a physical therapist. Suppressing her lifelong dream of becoming a poet, our heroine instead decides to choose to work in the medical field in order to improve her family financial situation. Trying hard to be optimistic no matter how hard things get, our heroine’s life takes a decisive turn for the worse when her nemesis (one of the two male lead that is our heroine’s crush that ended really badly back in college) shows up as a trainee in her department. Lee Joon Hyuk plays the other male lead as a physical therapy doctor with a sharp tongue.
This one looks cute and light…but I generally don’t like shows where we have to play the “Who’s the hero?” game. Unfortunately, I think A Poem A Day is one of those judging by the first two episodes. I liked the overall fun vibe of the story though so I might go back and check this one out once the show ended…and I know who will actually end up with our heroine.
Only Side By Side With You (C-Drama, New)
I was SUPER excited for this one to air! I am regretting a bit that I read the novel first because I do find myself comparing the difference between the drama and the novel. I will be writing the first impression on this one so I will save the rest of my comments then.

The Rich Son (K-Drama, New)
Kim Ji Hoon’s new K-family drama where he plays a spoiled rich kid who ends up inheriting his father’s massive debt and is left with the difficult task of restoring his family’s honor.

I thought the first couple episodes were decent. The show felt more like a K- daily for some reason- which in my book is not necessarily bad since it has been a LONG while since I found a daily I liked enough to follow.
Switch- Change The World (K-Drama, New)

Jang Geun Suk’s new drama where he plays a genius conman that ends up taking over the identity of a prosecutor who just happens to look exactly like him. Thanks to his rather unconventional talents, our hero will come up with equally unconventional methods to catch big baddies that prey on the society. The heroine is a junior prosecutor to the real prosecutor our hero replaced.

This one looks pretty solid if you are in the mood for a crime drama with a fun vibe. I was quite charmed by both of our leads right off the bat. Jang Geun Suk’s character is a conman with an unexpected soft heart, while our heroine is smart as a whip and even better at fighting…which of course, is always fun.
