Taiwanese Drama: Meet Me @1006 (1006的房客)
Broadcast Date: 3/17/2018
Airs: Saturdays
Total Episodes: 24
Leads: Lego Li & Nikki Hsieh

Character Intro:
Ke Chen Yu (Lego Li)
As one who has not lost a single case in his career as a lawyer, our hero, Ke Chen Yu’s downfall came fast and furious when he was accused of fabricating evidence for his latest high profile case.

His glorious career evaporating overnight, Chen Yu has no choice but to sell his house and move into a cheap rental apartment.

At the lowest point of his life, our hero would’ve loved to drown out his sorrows with wine…but Chen Yu soon realizes that he needs all his wits to greet the mysterious guest that shows up in his apartment every night at 10:06 pm exactly.

Chen Jia Le (Nikki Hsieh)

Despite being a talented Judo martial artist, our heroine, Chen Jia Le chooses not to inherit her father’s dojo but throws herself fully into pursuing her dream of becoming a reporter. Finding it quite difficult to get herself noticed at work as a newbie, Jia Le is nonetheless determined to achieve her dream through hard work and her positive attitude.

Overcome with fear then anger at first when she keeps finding some strange man in her house each night, Jia Le eventually realizes that the truth is more bizarre than she could ever imagine.

After a few hilarious encounters (including an awesome shower/bath scene), our smart hero finally figures out that Jia Le is not some grudge-bearing female ghost but is actually the previous tenant of his apartment.

Putting all the clues together, Chen Yu realizes 1. There is a time difference of four months between him and our heroine. (Meaning Jia Le is four months behind our hero’s time.) 2. For some reason, his apartment merges with our heroine’s every night from 10:06 to 10:52 pm.

As the story progresses, our hero will find out that Jia Le is not only connected to the murder victim of the case that cost him his career but that she would also die in a seemingly ordinary accident later.

Ninja’s First Impression:

This one is hilarious! Lego Li and Nikki Hsieh’s last drama, Love @ Seventeen had a more serious melo vibe (especially for our heroine who had to be expressionless for quite a bit of the show) so it was really refreshing to see both of our leads in such comedic roles. Given the premise of the story, I am sure there will be plenty of heartache, conspiracy and danger later on but I am really hoping that the writer will be able to keep the comedic tone through the story anyway.

It was also a pleasant surprise to see the great chemistry between our two leads. Not to say that Lego Li and Nikki Hsieh didn’t have a good chemistry in their previous show but like I said, Nikki Hsieh had to be robot-like for most of the show so that didn’t allow for too many funny or heart skipping romantic scenes. It took the much lighter tone of Meet Me @ 1006 for me to fully see the great chemistry that was possible between the two actors. With this being the third collaboration for Lego Li and Nikki Hsieh, it is obvious that our two actors enjoy working together and I think their ease of being with one another will come through in their acting.

It is of course way too early to make a call on this one yet but I really enjoyed the first two episodes so I am definitely planning on following Meet Me @1006 as long as it doesn’t get draggy on me!
