Mid-Point Review

I am always a sucker for the “ex-lover reuniting years later” trope so I was looking forward to checking this one out. As you would expect from the cast lineup, the show is very pretty to look at and I did enjoy the “ex-lover reuniting years later” plotline as well but overall Our Interpreter was not a show that I would consider to be memorable.

There was not any particular glaring issue with the show per se, in fact, I found all three romance lines (the main one and two secondary couples) interesting. However, the show felt so scattered both on the romance and the business storylines that I found my attention wandering whenever I was watching it. The show started off focusing on our hero’s company and the challenge it faces as it ventures into the territory of developing a cutting-edge translation app then it jumps to our heroine’s career challenges as the top manager in her company. Both storylines were decent on their own but combined…it for some reason just didn’t have the effect of 1+1=2. This was what happened with the two secondary love lines as well. I found all three couples’ storylines interesting but combined…then I felt like I was watching three different shows.

Having said all that, I did still make it to episode 28 and will most likely finish it…since I have already made it that far.
