I was out of town and had pre-scheduled this post…but for some strange reason it didn’t work. So sorry for the delay!

Weakest Beast (Japanese Drama, New)
Yur Aragaki plays a hard-working professional who seems to always wear a bright happy smile…a smile that creeps our hero (Ryuhei Matsuda) out because he believes it is a fake expression that belies her real feelings. Our two leads constantly run into each other at their favorite far and eventually, the two will become attracted to each other but is love possible between a man who doesn’t believe in love and a woman who is used to covering up her real feelings with a smile?

The first episode looked interesting and the pacing was quite fast so I am feeling tentatively hopeful about this one.

Legal V (Japanese Drama, New)
Dang, it is impossible to not have high hopes for this one given its impressive cast! There should be TONS of familiar faces for those who follow J-drama.
Having lost her law license, our heroine is not about to let such a little thing keep her from opening a law practice. Tricking…umm…convincing a university law professor into opening the law firm with her, our heroine assembles an unlikely team (mostly made out of people who had done “special government assignments”…aka prison time) to help her solve various difficult legal cases for their clients.

I am not one who usually like these sort of shows but Legal V was surprisingly fun and kept me interested the whole time. The super impressive cast doesn’t hurt either of course since it was kinda exciting just to see what other familiar faces would show up.
Choosing Spouse by Lottery (Japanese Drama, New)
I guess the declining population must be a hot issue in Japan now or how else do you explain the premise of this show? Set in the fictional (at least for now) Japan where the government has to take the drastic steps of forcing its citizen to get married by lottery, the story follows several characters as they each have to figure out how the new law will affect their lives.

Interesting premise but not really my sort of thing so I am not planning on following this one. I am really curious what people in Japan think of the premise though…
Cops’n Robbers (Japanese Drama, New)
Based on the manga series “Dorokei” by Shu Fukuda, Cops’n Robbers tells the unlikely partnership between a rookie cop and a master thief.
WAY too many J-drama out this week, so I haven’t had a chance to check this one out yet.
From Today, It’s My Turn!! (Japanese Drama, New)
This one is the live action of J-manga Kyo kara Ore wa!! by Hiroyuki Nishimori. As two brand new students transferring to the same school into the same class on the same day, our two male leads are stunned when they realize they have both decided to switch their once ordinary hairdo to something shocking in order to suit their new determination to become “school thugs”. Soon realizing that they would be wise to partner up instead of revealing each other’s dirty secret (the fact they are not really thugs before their hairdo change), the two boys embarks on the hilarious journey that comes with their growing fame as the school “thugs”.

I was shockingly entertained by this one! Maybe I was in a mood to laugh, but I found this wacky show simply hilarious.
ps. It was really fun to see Shun Oguri’s guest appearance in the first episode.

Twelve Nights (Korean Drama, New)
This one is a Viki original about two people who are seemingly destined to meet again and again because of fate.

The pacing felt slow at first but after a while, I decided it was leisurely slow instead of annoyingly slow. The plot is fairly predictable since our two leads will…um…meet each other repeatedly but I still found the first episode quite sweet and promising.
Dae Jang Geum is Watching (Korean Drama, New)
This one has a hilarious premise of where our three leads (siblings) are descendants of the great Dae Jang Geum (the super popular 2003 K-historical drama by the name of Jewel in the Palace which centers around a woman by the name of Dae Jang Geum who went from a talented palace kitchen cook to becoming the first female physician to the king.) Inheriting super genes from Dae Jang Geum’s line, our three leads each have an extraordinary gift in connection to food.

The story is surprisingly decent for a show that is more like a spoof than an actual drama and the food porn is definitely worth checking out.
My Healing Love (Korean Drama, New)
Despite being married to a husband who seems content wasting his life away, our heroine nonetheless tries hard to be optimistic as she faces the sour lemons life gives her. However, our heroine will eventually find out the hard way that bravery and a positive outlook can’t solve everything…which is where our hero (Yeon Jung Hoon) will come in.

I have been on the lookout for the next K-family drama to put on my watch list so I am excited this one seems quite promising. The story set up is pretty standard as you would expect, however, I am liking the chemistry between our two leads and the story does manage to feel refreshing despite the many stereotypes the show uses. Yeon Jung Hoon usually picks fairly solid projects so I am banking on that.
