Buried City To Shut All Lights (Chinese Drama, New)
A bright and carefree girl by nature, our heroine’s world is changed forever when her father leaves her at her new master’s manor in order to keep her safe from the impending doom that will soon befall on her family. With the weight of seeking revenge against her family’s killer, our young heroine must figure out the truth behind their murder and become strong enough to fight the villains…all with the help of her dreamy master. The dreamy master is our hero and since the synopsis promised that the show will be fairly heavy on the romance, this one should be a dream come true for all those who like this sort of pairing.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t too impressed with the first episode so I am not planning on following this one.
Granting You A Dreamlike Life (Chinese Drama, New)
A successful food critic who grew up in France, Lin Jing Yun comes back to China and ends up discovering her grandmother’s diary which will tell the memorable romance between her grandmother and the son of a triad leader. The story is set in early 1900s Shanghai but judging by the first two episodes, the show took quite a bit of creative license when it comes to costume and set design. This sort of set up is (bygone romance of an older generation) is not usually my thing so I am skipping out on this one as well.
Love and π (Taiwanese Drama)
This one has actually been out for a few weeks but since Viki was in the process of licensing Love and π, it was really hard to find it. Our two leads are friends who grew up in the same orphanage thus their relationship has always been more like siblings. However, as they venture into the big city and meet new people, our two leads will slowly figure out what they thought was family love has become something else. The show has a pretty warm vibe and the secondary storylines look fairly promising as well. This one should be a safe bet to check out if you like the friend to lover sort of storyline.
Campus Heroes (Taiwanese Drama, New)
Once a promising professional baseball player, our hero loses his job and every subsequent job he had since then thanks to his inability to control his temper. Determined to hold onto what could be his last chance to make something of himself when a school principal took a daring chance and hires him to be the homeroom teacher of a bunch of seemingly hopeless students, our hero must figure out a way to make sure at least half of his class graduate by the end of the school year.
I find the hero’s habit of popping a gum every time he loses his temper hilarious so this one might be fun if you dig “creative-education” school dramas.
Gossip High (Chinese Drama, New)
As a lowly paparazzi who can never seem to get a headline, our heroine is horrified when she inadvertently becomes a headline herself when she was caught in a picture with an A-list actor. In order to save herself from our hero’s angry fans, our heroine promptly agrees when our hero offers her a job so they could dispell the rumor that she is his girlfriend. However, our heroine will soon find out that working for a top star is not all it’s cracked up to be…especially when our hero is hiding the real reason he hired her. (There is a small mystery but the story is fairly light so I don’t think it will be anything too dark.)
This one looks like a lot of fun! I quite like the show’s wacky vibe. Judging by the first three episodes, the romance’s pacing will be pretty slow which is a good thing since C-drama tend to get draggy if the romance gets going too fast. Big Forest (Korean Drama, New)
tvN sure has discovered a niche market on coming up with wacky and hilarious shows. The first episode of Big Forest is split into two parts. The first half follows a man who used to be a top star but is now penniless and chased by loan sharks. The second half of the show follows a single father who wishes he could be a banker his young daughter believes him to be but in reality, he is a loan shark who is learning how to hound people for money…and the top star from the first half of the show is his first case.
The synopsis sounds random and the poster looks boring but the first episode was hilarious.
100 Days My Prince (Korean Drama, New)
As a 28 year old maid who has no desire to be married, our heroine is stunned when she is informed that the Crown Prince has ordered anyone single over the age of 20 to be married in a month’s time. With no way to go against a royal decree, our heroine decides to marry a man who has lost all memories of his past and is seemingly useless now. Little did our heroine know, her “useless” new husband is actually the Crown Prince who lost his memories after falling off a cliff during an assassination.
I was hoping this one is on the light side but alas, it was a lot heavier than I expected. Still, the first episode was solid all around and the story quite compelling. The show does insert plenty of humor when it could so don’t let my talk of the story being heavier than I expected scare you off.

I watched Granting You a Lifelike Dream. Pretty watchable and Zhu Yi Long is a solid actor. An Yue Xi is a joy to watch too! But the rest of the supporting cast is a little weak. Story may seem cliche, but Zhu Yi Long is able to give his character some depth which makes for an interesting watch. I did recaps until episode 3 and will be trying my best to recap the whole thing! Head over to jpsporadicmusings.wordpress.com to read them!! 🙂
