Mr. Nanny (Chinese Drama, New)
Nicky Wu’s new C-romance where he plays a promising child psychologist in a prominent university overseas but ends up returning to China after being framed by his good friend. Running into a slew of trouble after returning to China to the point he can’t even support himself, our hero eventually becomes our heroine’s fake boyfriend then her nanny for her unexpected baby.

This one looks like your typical C-city romance with a mixture of light comedy, meddling parents and some angst thrown in.
Hide and Seek (Korean Drama, New)
This one has a fairly typical sounding premise where the rich daughter is kidnapped and grows up in an ordinary household without knowing her true identity while another girl adopted from an orphanage has been able to live her life as the pampered princess (at least on the surface) in place of the kidnapped girl. What makes this particular story interesting is that while the premise sounds typical the heroine is not who you would have assumed to be. The girl from the orphanage, the fake princess is the heroine of our story NOT the hard working girl who is the real princess. The choice of the hero is also surprising. Unlike most cases where the hero would be a chaebol son who falls in love with a poor but plucky heroine, the hero is the chaebol son’s employee…and the real princess’ boyfriend. In any other K-dailies, the boyfriend would abandon his hardworking girlfriend thinking he would hit it big with the fake princess only to realize later that the hardworking girlfriend is the REAL princess but by then, the heroine would already find her true love- the rich chaebol hero who always knew our heroine was special even when she was poor.

So, in short, Hide and Seek took the usual villains in K-dailies then made them the leads. I have always loved the retelling of fairy tales so I am quite intrigued to see how this one will go.

ps. This one is on Viki
Eagles and Youngster (Chinese Web Drama, New)

This one is a modern fantasy where our young hero sets out into a dangerous snowy wildness to find an antidote for his uncle who was poisoned by a curse during his expedition into the same area. Picking up an eagle egg by chance, our hero wants to set the rare white eagle free when it has the ability to survive on its own. However, the rare white eagle attracts greedy humans and our young heroes soon find themselves fighting against the villains’ elaborate conspiracy to exploit the environment for their own profit.

This one has an impressive production quality especially considering it’s a web drama. For those who like fantasy Young Adult adventure fictions, I think Eagles and Youngster will be worth checking out.

Time (Korean Drama, Episode 18/32)

Sigh… I have a rule of not watching sad shows…especially one with terminal illness in them…but I sure broke it with this one. The show is certainly a tear jerker but the story is solid and the acting impressive. What is crazy is that even though the story is filled with very depressing twists and turns but there is still a general sense of hope for some strange reason. The one thing that especially impressed me about Time is the great character development in all four leads. The male and female second leads are the villains…but not in the traditional sense since they are the type of villains that make you wonder if you were in their place would you have the strength to make better choices. Our hero is the spoiled rich chaebol son who carries the overwhelming guilt of not knowing if he was the one that had killed our heroine’s sister. With all evidence (or lack of thereof) seems to point to himself as the culprit, our hero decides to use his little remaining time on earth to help our heroine figure out the truth behind her sister’s death…while fooling himself that he has not fallen in love with our heroine.

I don’t see how this one could possibly end happily BUT the show is awesome enough that I might be satisfied as long as our heroine find out what really happened to her sister and our hero is able to die after having loved and be loved.
