Episode 18
◦Yang Rong casts a spell on Chong Jin and orders him to kill Lily.
◦ Daddy Bai loses his temper with Wan Wan for always saying things are peachy when they are obviously just getting worse. From the clues he gathered from Daddy Bai’s rants, Wan Wan figures out the reason Yang Rong became so powerful is because Li Yan Xi’s enemies are helping her. (Li Yan Xi’s enemies needed Yang Rong because she is part of the library and with her help, they can finally get into it.) Knowing how dangerous the situation has become, Wan Wan and Feng Ning convince a reluctant Daddy Bai to leave.
◦ Unable to reach Chong Jin via the bracelet, a worried Lily decides that the only thing she can do is to finish her mission as soon as possible so she could go back and check on our hero herself.
◦ Assassin Pei Jun attempts to kill his target once again but ends up saving Lily instead when something she said triggers the mysterious memory that keeps bothering him. Realizing quickly that Pei Jun must be one of Li Yan Xi’s soul fragments, Lily freely admits to Pei Jun that as he had guessed, she is no longer the same woman he had tried to kill. Confirming Pie Jun’ s identity by touching him with her bracelet, Lily convinces Pie Jun to stay by her as her bodyguard in exchange for a promise that she will tell him everything once she is done with the big project she is working on.
◦ Frustrated that their assassin seems to be dragging his feet on killing Lily, the villains decide to sabotage her big project instead.
◦ Rushing off to the airport to personally greet a very important guest, Dr. Ye, Lily stops the car when she spots someone who looks like Chong Jin. Overjoyed, Lily throws her arms around the man but is confused when the man calmly tells her that she has mistaken him for someone else. Even more confused when the man turns out to be none other than Dr. Ye, Lily keeps asking him if he is Chong Jin but Dr. Ye insists that he is not.
◦ Dr. Ye turns out to be the expert the villains hired to steal Lily’s project and is set to make his move that very night.
◦ Still holding onto the belief that Dr. Ye must be Chong Jin, Lily decides she can’t wait any longer and goes off in search for him late at night. Unable to find Dr. Ye at his hotel, Lily returns back to her office to retrieve a forgotten document…
Episode 19
◦ Surprised to see Dr. Ye in her office, Lily tries to assure Pei Jun that he is one of their own. Thoroughly confused when Pei Jun’s subsequent words reveal that Dr. Ye is actually working for the villain, Lily reaches for Dr. Ye’s arm but was almost hurt as Dr. Ye makes his escape.
◦ Yelling for Dr. Ye and Pei Jun to stop fighting, Lily doesn’t hesitate to jump in front of Dr. Ye when she spots a man aiming a gun at his direction. Flooded by memories of Lily jumping in front of him and dying in his arm, Dr. Ye/ Ye Chong Jin, whirls Lily out of the bullet’s way and yells at her for putting herself in harms’ way. Overjoyed to hear Chong Jin saying the same exact words he had said to her the last time she took a bullet for him, Lily throws her arms around him. Fuming as she watches Lily hugging the man she loves, Yang Rong strengthens her spell and orders Chong Jin to kill Lily again.
◦ Fortunately for Lily, before a spellbound Chong Jin could follow Yang Rong’s order, Wan Wan finds a way to break off Yang Rong’s control over the book and Chong Jin. Without Yang Rong’s control, Chong Jin stops trying to kill Lily but he still can’t remember her.
◦ The villains show up and order Chong Jin to turn over the project information he stole from Lily’s office. Wisely realizing that the villains would kill him the moment he turns over the documents, Chong Jin refuses and ends up jumping into the river to avoid getting shot by the villain.
◦ Mildly puzzled to discover a worried Lily had jumped into the river because she had thought he was hurt, Chong Jin returns Lily’s documents back to her and gets ready to leave…that is until our heroine stops him by planting a kiss on him. Thanks to the kiss, Chong Jin’s memory finally returns and our two leads are back to being a lovey dovey couple.
◦ Displeased with the little progress Yang Rong has made, a mysterious woman threatens to destroy the book Lily is in. Panicking at the thought that Chong Jin would die along with the book, Yang Rong pleas with the mysterious woman until she agrees to give Yang Rong one more hour to make Chong Jin kill Lily himself or the book would self-destruct. Thanks to the mysterious woman, Yang Rong gets more powerful once again and breaks off Wan Wan’s control over the book. At first dismayed to have his connection to the book cut off, Wan Wan is pleasantly surprised when the bracelet suddenly repairs itself. (The explanation is that Li Yan Xi actually injected quite a bit more power into the bracelet than Wan Wan had first assumed.)
◦ Thanks to the power in the bracelet, Wan Wan goes to confront Yang Rong but only long enough for Feng Ning to steal the book away. Discovering the curse the mysterious woman had placed on the book, Wan Wan and Feng Ning finally understand why it was so easy to steal the book.
◦ Lily successfully finishes her mission and the two returns to the real world. Happy to be back but also sad to know that their time is about to end now that the last soul fragment has been found, Lily tells Chong Jin that she can’t imagine being without him. Leaning close to Lily, Chong Jin says “You have been my wife from the very start…but you still have yet done your duty as a wife.” Feeling shy, Lily asks “What do you mean by that?” Smiling, Chong Jin replies “I mean you still haven’t cooked a bowl of delicious soup for me. Every time you brought me soup, I had to be extra brave to drink all of it.” Pulling Lily into his arms when she punches him, Chong Jin turns serious and tells Lily that it’s time for them to return to the library and tells her to not watch when he separates from Li Yan Xi’s soul fragment. Giving Chong Jin a brave smile, Lily reminds Chong Jin that they had promised to confront everything together and besides, like Chong Jin had said before, once Li Yan Xi wakes up then he would be able to find a way for them to be together. Pulling Lily back into his arms, Chong Jin’s smile fades as he silently apologizes to her “Lily, I lied to you. Li Yan Xi…there is nothing he can do.”
Episode 20
◦ Keeping her promise to the mysterious woman, Yang Rong leads an attack on the library. Our leads fight valiantly but Chong Jin was no match against Yang Rong. Throwing his arms around Lily, Chong Jin’s only hope of protecting the woman he loves from Yang Rong’s fatal blow is using his own body as an armor. Seemingly unable to do anything but to watch Chong Jin sacrifice himself to protect her, Lily instinctively holds out her palm and ends up activating the mark Rong Li had left on her hand. Rong Li shows up and gets rid of Yang Rong but that also meant Rong Li’s soul fragment is getting weaker.
◦ Forced to admit that they have run out of time, Lily bids goodbye to Feng Ning then Pei Jun. (Pei Jun’s book has been destroyed by the curse so Feng Ning invites him to come to his world. Seemingly surprised and moved by Feng Ning’s unexpected invitation, Pei Jun replies with a short nod.)
◦ With much difficulty, Chong Jin finally pries himself away from Lily and gets ready to say his final goodbye…until Yang Rong shows up again.
◦ Gathering all the power from the resentful souls in the library, Yang Rong is determined to destroy the library and everything in it. Jumping out, Chong Jin slowly makes his way towards Yang Rong even as she sends daggers into his body. Unable to help herself when Chong Jin collapses in front of her, Yang Rong rushes towards our hero only to die by his hand why he shoots her with his spirit pistole. Keeping his eyes on a bitter Yang Rong who is still asking “Why, why do you treat me like this?”, Chong Jin replies “I told you not to hurt her. I killed you once so I can kill you a second time.”
◦ Too severely wounded to hold on much longer, Chong Jin tells a sobbing Lily “Time always seems so short when I am with you. I still have so much to say to you but I don’t have time anymore.” Shaking her head, Lily urges “Tell me now. I am listening, tell me!” Breaking into a tearful laugh when Chong Jin replies “You haven’t done your wifely duty.”, Lily holds Chong Jin and mutters the word sorry repeatedly.
Crying uncontrollably after Chong Jin disappears after whispering “I love you.” Lily quickly calms herself once Wan Wan tells her that they need to wake Li Yan Xi soon. Making her decision once Wan Wan confirms her guess that she would lose her ability to dive into novels once Li Yan Xi wakes up, Lily convinces Wan Wan to put her back into the books so she could go on a seemingly impossible search for Chong Jin.
(A core part of Li Yan Xi’s soul was also in Lily so that’s why she could go into the books. For Li Yan Xi to wake up, Lily would have to return his soul fragment back to him but that also means she would lose her ability to go back into the books. Wan Wan warned Lily that Chong Jin could be in any of the possible 3000 worlds/books but Lily insists that Chong Jin had searched for her before so this time, it’s her turn to find him.)
◦ Li Yan Xi finally wakes up and the first thing he says is “Lily, I am back.”
◦ Poor Daddy Bai sits at the gym missing his daughter. The necklace Wan Wan gave to Daddy Bai flashes on his neck. (Hmm… I have no clue what that means. Is our hero in the necklace?)
It sure looks like there is season 2?

Thank you so much for the recaps. Watching it raw doesn’t rub raw anymore ;D
But I hate hate hate such endings just so that they can create a season 2. And by the time that’ll happen I’ll probably have forgotten all the angst I went through with Lily and Chong Jin…ugh!
Finished reading long time ago but just had time to put a comment in. When I saw ‘End’ on the title, my first thought was it could not be this fast and then there would be a 2nd season. I got it all right in one go. Hopefully, when the 2nd season is out, it will be very popular and some fan sites will pick up and sub both seasons. I’m really appreciated for your hard working on recaps of this drama. I love reading all your posts, not only recaps but everything you’ve posted so far. Thank you so much.
