Episode 15
◦ Thanks to the forbidden spell, the villain is unstoppable and soon Chong Jin is telling Lily to run away. Refusing to leave Chong Jin behind, Lily insists that she will die with him.
◦ Rong Li shows up at the last moment to save Chong Jin and Lily but even Rong Li was no match to the villain either. Rong Li eventually manages to kill the villain but lost his own life as well. Before he dies, Rong Li remembers his past with Lily and her bracelet confirms that Rong Li is one of Li Yan Xi’s fragments.
◦ Daddy Bai runs into Yang Rong and was almost killed by her. Yang Rong becomes even a bigger problem because thanks to the little mind reading thing she did, she now knows everything Daddy Bai knows.
◦ The seal Li Yan Xi put on Lily finally breaks and Lily remembers everything, including how Li Yan Xi had ignored the impending danger because he wanted to celebrate Lily’s birthday with her.
◦ Noticing Chong Jin’s anxiousness over Lily, Daddy Bai is happy with the possibility of having Chong Jin as his future son-in-law but Wan Wan tells him that they would be in big trouble in Chong Jin and Lily like each other.
◦ Wan Wan informs Lily and Chong Jin the bad news that Rong Li has escaped. Wanting to have a private discussion with Lily, Daddy Bai and Wan Wan convince Chong Jin to go look for Rong Li.
Episode 16
◦ Wan Wan explains that the reason Lily’s bracelet didn’t light up the first time with Rong Li was because as a zombie, at that point, Rong Li didn’t have full self awareness yet. Wan Wan also shows Lily that Rong Li hasn’t disappeared, in fact, Rong Li has just turned back to Li Yan Xi’s soul fragment early.
◦ Dismayed when Daddy Bai and Wan Wan tells her that she can’t be with Chong Jin, Lily presses Wan Wan for the reason. Wan Wan explains that all four fragments of Li Yan Xi’s souls have attached themselves to the characters in their respective novels. When the time comes that the four fragments are all gathered, then Chong Jin will have to separate himself into two: the part that is Li Yan Xi’s soul fragment and the part that is Ye Chong Jin that belongs to the novel. At that point, Ye Chong Jin of the novel will no longer have the memory of Li Yan Xi. However, if Chong Jin continues to be romantically entangled with Lily then his memories and love of Lily will make his novel reject him…dooming him into nothingness.
◦ While our heroine is getting the bad news, Chong Jin also realizes that his time with Lily will end soon. (Chong Jin can see how important Li Yan Xi is to Lily so he knows he has to do his part to wake up Yan Xi. However, that also means he will go back to his own story…)
◦ Realizing her love for Chong Jin will actually destroy him, Lily distances herself from Chong Jin by telling him that she doesn’t want to waste time on a hopeless relationship since Chong Jin is a spirit and she is human. Refusing to accept Lily’s reasoning, Chong Jin promises again that he will stay with Lily but Lily points out that as a spirit who has to go back into a book, Chong Jin is in no position to make promises.
◦ Chong Jin calls after Lily as she walks away and we abruptly switch to Lily having to jump out of a car that is out of control.
New mission: Lily’s new host is the eldest granddaughter of a very wealthy grandfather. Entrusted with her grandfather’s company while he is out of country treating a serious illness, Lily’s host was killed in a car accident just six months later. The granddaughter’s uncle takes over the company after her death, but Lily doesn’t actually know who was the one that killed her.
◦ Lily tries to focus on the mission but finds herself keep thinking about Chong Jin and sobs as she remembers how she had to push him away.
◦ Chong Jin tries to dive into the story to find Lily but for some reason he couldn’t. A frustrated Wan Wan reminds Chong Jin that the more time he spends in the storybooks (other than his own I am assuming) the weaker he will become. Turning his anger on Wan Wan, Chong Jin demands to know if Wan Wan had told Lily about what would happen once the four fragments are gathered. Admitting that he had indeed told Lily, Wan Wan argues Lily was bound to find out soon anyway. Jumpy when Chong Jin remarks that he feels Wan Wan is still hiding something else, Wan Wan not so convincingly assures Chong Jin that he is not.
Episode 17
◦ It doesn’t take long for Lily to realize her host was the cool aloof CEO type. Unsure of how to pull off a super CEO character, Lily hilariously finds herself remembering how our hero acted in the first two stories so she can get some pointers.
◦ Lily soon finds herself mired in messy family/corporate intrigue and we the audience also finds out the uncle is the villain in this story.
◦ Stumbling into bed after a night of heavy drinking for business reasons, Lily mutters that she did perfectly even without Chong Jin by her side. Frustrated to find herself thinking about Chong Jin again, Lily falls asleep muttering his name.
◦ Chong Jin finally manages to dive into the story only to get kicked out soon after hearing Lily calling Yan Xi’s name in her sleep. Standing in front of Li Yan Xi’s body, a very frustrated Chong Jin aims his gun at Yan Xi but in the end, Chong Jin couldn’t follow through. However, thanks to Rong Li, Chong Jin quickly breaks into a smile when he sees the memory of Lily telling Rong Li that Chong Jin is the most important person to her.
◦ Lily wakes up in a daze the next morning and wonders if she is hallucinating when she sees Chong Jin’s smiling face. Our heroine soon gets her answer thanks to a passionate kiss from Chong Jin. Assured of Lily’s feelings for him now thanks to Rong Li’s memory, Chong Jin tricks Lily into telling him about why they couldn’t be together. (The part Wan Wan hid from Chong Jin was that the more he loves Lily the more likely he would get rejected by his own story and ends up disappearing into nothing.) Chong Jin tells Lily that she is his world so even if he is destined to disappear into nothingness, then he wants to spend the rest of his remaining time with her.
Her own resolve breaking down especially when Chong Jin confesses how much he was hurt by her rejection, Lily throws her arms around Chong Jin and cries that she is too afraid that her love would destroy him. Breaking into a smile as Lily looks up at him with a torn expression when he asked if she is willing to sacrifice Li Yan Xi for him, Chong Jin assures Lily that things might not be so bad since Li Yan Xi is after all the master of the library so there might be hope for them once he wakes up.
◦ Assured of each other’s love once again, Chong Jin and Lily start their “long distance” relationship via the bracelet as Lily tries to play her role as the cool and aloof CEO.
◦ Wan Wan had assumed Yang Rong won’t be much of a problem because as a resentful spirit she won’t be able to last long in the real world. Unfortunately, thanks to the help of a mysterious group, Yang Rong gains a body and becomes very powerful. Showing up in the library with the group of mysterious men, Yang Rong easily beats Chong Jin then walks off with the storybook Lily is currently in.
◦ Hearing the whole confrontation with Yang Rong because she was actually in the middle of talking to Chong Jin when Yang Rong showed up, Lily urgently tries to find out if Chong Jin is okay but the bracelet seems to have stopped responding.
