Korean Drama: Something In The Rain (밥 잘 사주는 예쁜 누나)
Broadcast Date: March 30, 2018
Airs: Saturday & Sunday
Total Episodes: 16
Leads: Son Ye Jin & Jung Hae In

Synopsis:
As a 35 year old single woman working for a coffee franchise, Yoon Jin Ah spends her day dealing with difficult clients and an even more difficult boss.

Knowing how her fervently her parents are waiting for her to get married, our heroine doesn’t have the heart to tell her eager parents that their hopeful future son-in-law had just dumped her for a much younger girl.

Her tiring days brightened when her BFF’s younger brother, Seo Joon Hee (Jung Hae In from Prison Playbook) suddenly comes back into her life after spending three years abroad, Jin Ah’s soon comes to rely on having this “younger brother” by her side. Used to her role as Hae In’s “other” noona, Jin Ah is very comfortable nagging and roughhousing with our hero, believing their relationship will never change…until one day it did.

Ninja’s First Impression:

With so many noona romances out this year, I really didn’t think this one had much of a chance of catching my attention…but it did! I liked Jung Hae In well enough in Prison Playbook but apparently I was too blind to appreciate his charm fully then because he is sure making me swoon in Something In The Rain. To be honest, the story itself feels fairly predictable (middle age single heroine who is disappointed in love + young and good looking hero) BUT the show does a great job making itself charming and most importantly, squeal inducing.

One thing I really like about this particular noona romance is that unlike the other shows where the hero seems bumbling and looks somewhat green compared to the more mature heroine, our hero here might look young but he is utterly manly.

My only concern thus far is that the show’s pacing on our two leads’ romance seems rather fast. With the story only two episodes in and fourteen more episodes to go, I am really hoping the writer will slow down so we don’t end up getting stuck in the land of drag.
