Synopsis: Our hero is a botany professor devoted to his scientific research and nothing else. Our hero’s indifference to anything else outside of research inadvertently hurt our heroine years ago when they were both still in college which resulted in our heroine believing she was rejected because our hero had low regard for her intelligence.
Meeting our hero again years later as a fashion influencer, our heroine decided to seek her belated revenge by hiding the fact she holds a Ph.D. and make our hero fall in love with her.
First and Second Impression:
I will be honest, my first impression of A Romance of the Little Forest wasn’t great. The story was rather predictable so the story progression was exactly that. However, I was charmed by our heroine’s character. Thanks to her name that literally means beauty and the fact that she was fairly plain looking as a child, our heroine grew up being constantly teased mercilessly. Instead of growing up resentful and timid, our heroine became a makeup expert with great confidence in herself. I especially love the fact that our heroine’s confidence is just as strong when she is without her makeup.
I found myself watching one episode after another…and before I knew it, this one really grew on me. Vin Zhang’s character was pretty boring at first but once the story allowed his character to emote a tiny bit more then it got a lot better. Now, the show still has plenty of flaws. The secondary love line wasn’t able to keep my interest so I pretty much fastward those parts. The plot also got draggy at parts but thankfully those parts weren’t too long. All in all, I found A Romance of the Little Forest an easy watch with cute interaction between our two leads and would recommend it if one is able to go into it with a realistic expectation.
