Faint light penetrated the curls of smoke from afar, he suddenly spoke and called: “Wei Zhi.”

“………….”

After a moment of silence, she inclined her head to look at him and asked in a startled tone “Who are you calling?”

He sat up and looked into her eyes. Very special misty eyes, always hidden and covered in mist, making it very difficult to read what’s behind them.

What a pair of heaven-kissed eyes— you will never be able to read what you desire from such eyes.

In her expression, only true bewilderment can be seen.

“It’s nothing.” He was quiet for a moment as he lowered his head to straighten up his clothes and said “I remembered my enemy.”

“Oh?” She turned her head lazily to look at him, seemingly not too interested.

“It was this person who killed tens of thousands of my Da Yu sons and destroyed all of the military accomplishment I had built.” Jin Siyu’s smile was warm but there was a glint of darkness flickering in his eyes, “If I can’t flay him alive, crush his bones, burn him into ashes then how can I face my brothers who died on the battlefield?”

She listened, yawned lazily, and said offhandedly “Yes, yes, a gentleman must avenge a grudge. You must capture and torture him brutally. Or you can castrate him, that’s the cruelest thing to a man.”

“The person needs to be a man first.” He looked at her with a gentle smile.

“It’s not a man?” Finally showing some curiosity, she asks “A female general?”

“Who knows?” He gets up, pulled open the curtain, and the maid filed in like a stream to fill the bedside table with food.

There was plenty of food but it didn’t look too appetizing. A large bright red plate was filled with a mixture of red and white minced meat. The meat didn’t look cooked all the way through, with a bit of blood seeping out, reminding one of everything that was in that dark underground prison.

A smiling Jin Siyu placed a bowl and chopsticks in front of her “This is the famous “Snow Surprise Meat Stew”. It might not look great but it has indeed been cooking carefully with lots of protein added into it. It had been steamed so it’s very tender, you wouldn’t want to miss it.” (The “surprise” in the name “Snow Surprise” here is the Qing in Hua Qing.)

She sat on the bed, staring at the dish blankly. The maid knelt on the bed, filled a small bowl with the mincemeat to feed her.

 She turned her head resolutely.

“I can’t eat it.”

“Why?” Jin Siyu sat cross-legged across from her, leisurely took a bit, asked her with a very puzzled expression.

She pursed her lips and said nothing.

“It’s shameful to waste food.” His expression darkened, put down his bowl, scooped a spoonful, and shoved it towards her mouth, “If you don’t eat this, then you can go down and eat the prison food!”

She tried hard to dodge but her weak body was no match for his strength and soon she was stuffed a mouthful of the meat. In the next instant, the meat came spewing out of her mouth, spraying the red silk blanket all over.

Jin Siyu slams the bowl and chopstick down (yes, he was holding a spoon just a second ago…but that’s what’s in the book), the porcelain bottom made a crisp sound as it connected with the tabletop.

“I can’t swallow it.” She doesn’t look at him but said breathlessly “As soon as I saw this then I remembered…Hua Qing.”

Jin Siyu narrowed his eyes and said “You are admitting it honestly.”

“You said she is dying for me.” Tears welled up in her eyes but stubbornly refused to fall, “I am eating and sleeping well here but she is being tortured to death. Am I still human if I can eat that?”

“Then you should reclaim your memory faster.” Jin Siyu said, “but you are unwilling.”

“I am unwilling?!” She suddenly flipped over the bedside table, “If I can remember then do I still need to suffer like this? What it is, is. At the most, it’s just being pulled by a rope to the market to be killed! It’s not worth being tested by you endlessly and eating this brain pulp like disgusting stuff!”

The “brain pulp” was flipped over with the bowl onto the bed and splashed onto his clothes as well. The maids were so shocked that they froze like wooden figures.

Jin Siyu also sat across from her in shock, staring at her blankly while silently thinking: ah, she actually can lose her temper. Ah, when she loses her temper she is actually as fierce as a lioness.

Looking at his clothes that are now covered with red and white mincemeat, and remembering her description, Jin Siyu suddenly felt nauseous and almost threw up. Instantly furious, he turned and yelled at the maids “Hurry and clean this up!”

The maids jumped in fright and shakily cleared off the mess. In their hearts, they were all silently complaining — the table was flipped over by someone else, and that someone else is even a prisoner so why are they the one getting yelled at?

Prince An has always been gentle and elegant. He is famous for being a gentleman and has seldom spoken harshly at the servants. Yet, he has lost his temper a few times today already. The maids all feel that since their Highness met this prisoner, he has become a bit abnormal.

Once the bedding was changed, the table cleaned, Jin Siyu came out with a fresh change of clothes and ordered “Bring food again.”

“I am not eating.” She blurted out.

Jin Siyu looked her gloomily before suddenly sneering coldly “If you can’t stand to see her die so much, then why not trade a life for another?”

Stunned, she muttered, “Trade a life?”

“Trade your life for hers.” Jin Siyu calmly explains “Don’t pretend to be so holy and noble. Since you know she is dying for you, other than making a big fuss of not eating minced meat, have you mentioned a word of trading your life for hers? Your so-called trust in life and death is just nothing more than talk.”

Wearing a sneering smile, his tone was bitter and poisonous. He waited for her to blow up again but she just sat in silence, her expression gloomy. After a long while, she finally sighed and said, “…..I want to live.”

Jin Siyu’s sneer grew bigger.

“But,” She suddenly raised her head and smiled. The smile still had the same familiar lazy feel to it but it somehow made his heart sink “I think you will not let me off in the end, so…”

She crawled down, didn’t bother with shoes, and walked out the door without another backward glance “See you (as in goodbye), never.”

“What are you doing!” Jin Siyu felt a wave of anger bursting out like a flame inside him as he watched her stumble none too steadily forward.

“To go eat prison food.” She was stumbling all over but she replied serenely.

Before she made it to the door, a shadow fell on her, and an arm wrapped around her waist. Without any time to struggle, she was already thrown back into bed.

Air came out of her lungs and she began to cough. Her chest heaving, gasping softly, her usually pale cheeks flushed pink highlighting her misty watery eyes, as weak as a bundle of seductive clouds.

Jin Siyu is once again lost for words.

His body arched over hers. He had planned on backing up after coldly reprimanding this stubborn woman a few words but now that his eyes have fallen on her delicate features, enchanting misty eyes, red rosy lips and cheeks, followed by snow-white slender neck, the collar is somewhat loose, showing a delicate collarbone, and further down…

A bit flustered, Jin Siyu quickly looked away before suddenly realizing his hand is still stuck on her waist. The slender waist in his hand has the unique flexibility of a female fighter, giving one the urge to try to break it or see what angle this softness can be bent into under him.

The moment the thought came, his mind went blank causing his breath to quicken. The maids are all very observant and quickly filed out silently. The last one to leave even carefully closed the door.

With the door closed behind them, the maids exchanged a glance– The female prisoners of war in Da Yue usually end like this. Judging by His Highness’ reaction, after this woman has served His Highness, her life should most likely be preserved.

The sound of the closing door jerked Jin Siyu out of his daze. He smiled, let go of her waist, and took a silk cloth to wipe clean the dust that had got on her barefoot when she walked on the floor just now.

The slender ankle in his palm is as slender as bamboo. The nails were not painted red like that is the custom of Da Yue women but are as clean and white as pearl shells. He unconsciously softened his movement, with a hint of gentleness in his hands that even he himself did not notice. She remained motionless, letting him serve her.

Her feet cleaned, he toss aside the silk cloth and leaned over her. She still didn’t move.

Is this acquiescence or an invitation?

Jin Siyu smiled and reached out his hand to untie her belt. In the past, he had also occasionally enjoyed the female prisoners of war taken from Tiansheng. His subordinates have always chosen those that had good looks and temperaments to send to him. They were all just for a brief enjoyment, a change of taste. Never like this moment, with endless gentle seduction.

Because there exists this gentle joy, he blew out the candlelight with a soft smile in the corner of his lips. The yellow dim candlelight out, the faint moonlight cascaded in. Half of her body in the bedding, half in the moonlight, as soft as a feather.

The belt untied, the bodice loosened, the skin was whiter than moonlight and more radiant than pearls.

She had been silent, her arms pressed against her eyes. Jin Siyu knew that she didn’t have the strength to struggle but in his heart, he also believes that she actually didn’t want to struggle as well.

Women who disguise themselves as men to join the military mostly have drifted through a hard life filled with loneliness and hardship. Very few of these types of people can keep their bodies unspotted. This kind of enjoyment between men and women, if it can be exchanged for freedom and life, then it is worth it in the end.

His finger gently stroked that pearl-like white.

She trembled.

He also trembled suddenly.

As if thunder abruptly struck, his finger stopped in mid-air.

The moonlight entered coldly through the window.

Shining on Jin Siyu’s face that had turned paler than the moonlight.

Shining on his hand in mid-air, staring fiercely at that bit of skin on the waist. Just where he had touched, appeared a dense patch of goosebumps on her lustrous skin.

Disgust!

Only extreme disgust within a woman can cause such a physical reaction!

She hates his touch!

For a moment Jin Siyu’s mind turned blank– he was born into royalty, he is also handsome and elegant, everywhere he goes women flock to him, crowds cheer when he passes by. He has experienced deceit and lies in his life but he has never really experienced what he is facing at this moment…disgust.

Uncontrollable disgust from the bottom of a woman’s heart.

Jin Siyu’s hand hung in mid-air. Facing those goosebumps, he suddenly feels like he is some lowly thug that had ambushed a woman to drag her into a grove with brute force with unsavory intent.

Furry ignite within him, the pride of a royal prince does not allow him to continue.

With a flick of his hand, a blanket was pulled over to cover up her disheveled clothes. He stood up without a word and walked out.

The door slammed shut, the four walls seemed to shake with the bang.

Once silence was restored, after a long time, she opened her eyes, seemingly a bit tired, smiled before immediately pursing her lips. With some difficulty, she used her hand that has been bandaged up like a bear’s paw to search behind her waist.

A little ant was found by her.

Gazing at the ant with the reverence one would give to a great benefactor, she said softly with half of a smile “Thanks for crawling round and round, defending my chastity, or else this goosebump really wasn’t something that could just be summoned at will.”

The moonlight shined into her eyes, the coldness in them flickered.

Then she blew lightly, the ant fell on the ground, like ash falling into this world, falling into infinite trials.
