- Zhi Wei wanted to take a small group of the most skilled fighters to scale down the cliffs to head straight for Jin Siyu’s main camp while assigning Chun Yu and Tao Yangyu to lead the other troops to head for the main camp another way.
“I am going with you!” Tao Yangyu rejects.
“No.” Feng Zhi Wei’s answer was short and to the point, “Your fighting skill is not good enough.”
Several of the dandies (Tao Yangyu’s friends) stared at Feng Zhi Wei like cocks straining their necks for a fight. Feng Zhi Wei didn’t even spare them a glance. Chun Yu chuckled gleefully, as if he couldn’t go then they all should not dream of going as well.
“We will be very careful!” Tao Yangyu pleads. He looked toward the direction of Baitou Mountain, a faint feeling of unease growing inside him.
“You will just drag us down.” Not mincing words, Feng Zhi Wei said “You think going straight into the enemy’s camp is an easy job? They have over 100,000 men in there!”
“Then why are you taking her?” Not convinced, Yu Liang tipped his head towards Hua Qing’s direction.
Hua Qing drew out the double knives from her waist and pointed at Yu Liang “Why? Let the knives do the talking.”
Yu Liang glared but said nothing. He is also a late comer to learning martial arts but what can he do when a certain someone is just better than him.
“Black Widow!”
“Useless Dandy!”
While they were fighting like cocks over there, over here Zhi Wei seemed to not have heard any of it.
Tao Yang Yu still wants to say something else but Zhi Wei has already stood up, obvious not taking any more objections. *BANG!* A figure suddenly flew down from the sky.
The person fell quite ungracefully, taking in a face full of mud.
In the distance, Master Gu dusted off his hands and said, “Eavesdrop” before slowly walking off.
The person on the ground raised his head with much difficulty. It was Wei Yu, the lieutenant sent by Ning Yi. Feng Zhi Wei was holding a top secret military meeting so naturally he was not allowed to participate.
“General…” Wei Yu got himself upright and shivered when his eyes met Feng Zhi Wei’s somewhat smiling one but still said urgently “Your plan is too risky…”
“You are planning to report this to Prince Chu?” Feng Zhi Wei cut him off.
Weiyu actually nodded and looked at her sincerely and said “General, before I came, His Highness personally reminded me to tell you that no matter what plans you have, you must listen to the words he asked Lieutenant Tao to relay to you. He also wanted me to report to him whatever news there is. This is a royal order, I…can’t go against it.”
“Then go report it.” Feng Zhi Wei’s answer was equally unexpected. With a clap of her hands, Master Gu brought over a lame donkey.
The donkey is extremely ugly, extremely old, looking like it would expire on the spot at any moment.
Feng Zhi Wei looked at Master Gu with admiration. She had only said to look for a donkey but he had managed to produce the most decrepit one.
Wei Yu’s expression turned sour as he looked at the thin fragile frame of the donkey that will probably collapse the moment someone sits on it.
He is suppose to use this donkey to travel hundreds of miles to make his report? The battle must be over by the time he arrives.
“Go on.” Feng Zhi Wei gives Wei Yu a warm smile as she puts him on the horseback. Giving the donkey’s butt a pat to send the old donkey off at a snail’s pace, Feng Zhi Wei adds “Remember to give His Highness my greetings. There is no need to return the donkey, just tell him that it is my gift to him. Flowers for beauties, precious donkey for a virtuous prince. This is Wei Zhi’s sincere gift, so please ask His Highness to accept it.”
Poor Wei Yu rides off on the donkey to make his “report.” Looking up at the sky, Feng Zhi Wei said “Helian’s team should be here soon with the grain supply. Let’s eat our fill and we will set out tonight.”
When the sky began to turn dark, sounds of horses and carriages could be heard coming close.
“They are here.” Feng Zhi Wei turned happily to greet the new comers and heard someone saying with a laugh “Helian did not fail and has arrived on time.”
“How come you came personally?” Surprised and happy, Feng Zhi Wei asked as Helian strode over and replied “Other than the grain, we also brought over beef and mutton cheese our people made. We also have the scimitar swords made by our tribe’s blacksmiths. The kids are used to eating our own food and using our own weapon!”
“It’s rare of you to be so thoughtful.” Zhi Wei smiles, “The food is okay but there is not much left. Distribute the beef and mutton cheese right away. Everyone can eat to their fill!”
Tao Yang Yu and others had felt fine with the food but all the wild grassland’s men were all cheering. After munching on the dry food rations of the Hans, they can finally eat what they are used to tonight so everyone was very excited.
Helian peered closely at Feng Zhi Wei and finally frowned after looking her all over “You seemed to have lost weight?”
Glancing over at Tao Yangyu and others, Feng Zhi Wei was afraid King Helian might blurt out something inappropriate so she quickly said “Why are you not going to make arrangements for supper?”
Casting a look at Helian, Tao Yang Yu answered “Oh” before taking his friends out of the tent with him while muttering “The general sure is popular with men…”
Helian vaguely heard Tao Yang Yu’s muttering and let out a squirt of laughter. Feng Zhi Wei sighs with frustration “This kid, he is getting out of hand!”
Her tone was complaining but her eyes were smiling, sparkling in the darkness of the dusk.
Staring at her misty yet sparkling crystal clear eyes, all the words that had been building up in Helian suddenly froze on his tongue. He suddenly lost the interest to ask all the questions he had been formatting in his head while he was on the road. Ask what? Someone with such a pair of eyes can never do such a vicious thing.
She might be calculating and unscrupulous, but her evil will always have its reasons and principles.
Helian smiled, feeling as if a big rock weighing on his heart was gone, his body suddenly lighter.
The always sharp woman beside him suddenly asked “There seems to be something you want to say?”
“No, I don’t.” Helian shook his head and stared at Feng Zhi Wei sincerely “I just think it is relaxing to be by your side.”
“Dummy.” Feng Zhi Wei smiled softly, a warm happiness in her eyes.
Coming in from the outside, Master Gu spotted Helian and suddenly floated over, stood right in front him, his sparkling eyes can be seen even through the face vail.
Helian smacked himself on the head and laughed “You want to ask about your Zhi Xiao right? Hmm…”
He hesitation immediately made Master Gu walked closer a few steps, even Feng Zhi Wei turned her head.
- Helian reveals that Zhi Xiao has been sick with fever and diarrhea. Worried that even the royal physician hadn’t been to cure Zhi Xiao, Zhi Wei suggests that they send Zong Chen back to the palace to personally take care of Zhi Xiao. Both Helian and Master Gu immediately rejected Zhi Wei’s idea since Zong Chen’s presence would be vital for their upcoming battle.
- Knowing how important Zhi Xiao is to Gu Nan Yi, Zhi Wei eventually convinced the three men (Zong Chen included) to let Zong Chen go to Zhi Xiao.
- Tao Yang Yu noticed that the camp cook was still using the old grain that had gotten wet from the rain previously and had an unpleasant taste to it. After thinking about Zhi Wei’s aversion to strong smelling food of Wild Grassland, Tao Yang Yu made the executive decision to have the camp cook use the new grain and the fresh vegetables that just arrived for the general’s tent.
Feng Zhi Wei frowned the moment dinner was delivered into her tent but then fell silent after glancing over at Master Gu.
Silly Gu is quite pitiful lately. He disliked lamb even more than her so he always had to swallow it with his eyes closed. There is no way to get walnuts here for him, so whenever Feng Zhi Wei sees the empty walnut bag hanging on his waist she always feels bad.
He has no daughter to hold nor can he eat walnuts. Even someone as thick skinned as Feng Zhi Wei would be embarrassed if she withhold a mouthful of fresh vegetables from him now.
“Why don’t you go eat lamb meat.” Feng Zhi Wei gave Helian a push, “We eat porridge here.”
“Don’t even think about it.” Helian squeezed in next to her and drank a mouthful of porridge “Don’t think you can hide and eat the good stuff.”
Feng Zhi Wei smiles, and put some food into Master Gu’s bowl who is busy eating “Go back after you finish eating. The royal palace can’t be without you for even a day.”
Ignoring her, Helian goes to put some vegetables into her bowl.
Feng Zhi Wei puts a hand on the bowl to block him.
Helian refused to move his chopsticks away. His amber violet eyes bright as he looked at her. “Mr. Zong is gone already, so I can’t leave too. I am going even if I have to crawl.”
“You are too important…” Feng Zhi Wei tried to persuade him but Helian just buried himself in eating and ignored her.
Knowing that this guy can be as stubborn as a bull when he makes up his mind, Feng Zhi Wei signed.
————————————————————–
Skipping over a few short paragraphs of our leads making their way into the enemy camp.
On the ground, the muscles of their whole body taut with tension, Feng Zhi Wei quickly used hand signals to discuss with Helian which way would be best to enter into Jin Siyu’s tent when they hear a sudden rush of footsteps.
The three of them pressed down even closer to the ground.
Helian quickly signals to Feng Zhi Wei “Should we retreat?”
Feng Zhi Wei shakes her head and signals to wait.
However, with that shake of her head, Zhi Wei suddenly felt her vision going dark for a second.
Her first thought was that perhaps she was too nervous but then she could immediately tell something was wrong.
Her head is slightly dizzy, her body slightly weak, her internal energy is suddenly dispatting like water gushing out.
To make matters worse, because of her condition, that burning energy buried deep inside her is suddenly bursting out, burning the very veins of her body. In almost an instant, the ground beneath her is soaked with her sweat.
In the next instant, Feng Zhi Wei made three moves.
First move, she looked around at the people moving around in the darkness with Hua Qing. Their dark darting figures proved that they were not affected at all.
Second move, she looked at Helian and Gu Nan Yi who were beside her. They both looked fine at the moment but Feng Zhi Wei is certain they since everyone who ate outside of her tent are fine then the problem is with the boh bowl of porridge and vegetable. It might not be poison but something is definitely wrong. All three of them ate it so no one would be able to escape its effect, especially Gu Nan Yi who ate the most.
Third move, she suddenly smacked the neck of the two men on either side of her.
She used all of her strength on that hit. These two people, even if they are suspicious of everyone in the world, they would never be guarded against her. Without a sound, the two men fell unconscious, even Gu Nan Yi.
I have been waiting forever to finally get to this part of the story! The drama does show this battle scene and the subsequent storyline but they pretty much took out all the best parts which is such a shame because it is truly epic and awesome!

Wow, what happened to Zhi Wei? Can’t wait for next Monday! Thanks, Ninja.
The novel has so much that drama missed! Will be interested to see what happens after the battle scene, I found show plot logic quite hard to follow at this point.
Was she poison or did she get hit by a dart, I can’t wait to see what happen as well. The novel is certainly more interesting than the drama. The scenes and the plot are definitely different. Is Zhi Wei going to be rescued by Ning Yi? Can wait for next week.
I can’t remember this part at all. Hummm
Thank you for this chapter!
Thanks for your translation. Such an exciting chapter.
