“Bei Zihua, Dong Feng, Sha Qianmo, Mo Bing Xian and the other teachers in the academy made a bet to see who can win your heart first. So that is why you keep seeing random people popping up trying to ingratiate themselves with you right? But too bad, what some people have labored for a year was no match to one single kiss from Bai Zihua that easily made you his.” Liuhuo purposefully only told half of the truth.

Her face drained of color in one instant, Qiangu demands “What did you say?” Did they notice her when she made a scene during the beginning of school and decided as a joke to make her into a bet?

“Isn’t it true? Look at yourself lately, can you see anything else besides him? Can you say that you haven’t fallen in love with him? He already won this bet so of course there is no reason for him to pay attention to you anymore.”

“You are lying!” Bai Zihua, Dong Feng, Mo Bin, Sister Sha (Sha Qianmo) are not like that!

“When have I ever lied to you? I think of you as a friend so I don’t want to see you upset over a man. It was just a bet or else why would so many people be so nice to you who is fat and silly. They were all just trying to win.”

Qiangu finally breaks down and starts to cry. No wonder Sister Sha and Dong Feng both said they wanted to marry her. She knew it was impossible for someone like herself but she still fooled herself into believing. No wonder after Bai Zihua would ignore her after he kissed her. It was all just a ploy for him to win!

They have gone too far! She is just a little overweight but everyone looks down on her, lie to her, and tease her! What she thought was true affection was all a game, a joke!

Her face as pale as paper, Qiangu suddenly feels like her world has lost all its color. Liuhuo scratches his head then wipes Qiangu’s tears away for her.

“Okay, don’t cry, I don’t dislike you! If no one really wants you then I will marry you. But of course when I go to brothels and gambling halls you have to come with me, no nagging.” Ha ha! Where would he find a wife like that!

Her hands ball into fists, Qiangu continues to cry as she vows silently that she is going to get an answer from Bai Zihua. No! She is going to go yell at him and everyone else who toyed with her!

Placing herself right in front of the classroom door, Qiangu stops Bai Zihua from leaving as she stands by the lotus lake with her hands on her hips. Peering at an obviously furious Qiangu with brimming curiosity, all the students stop to watch the show.

Guessing the bet is about to end, someone tells a few of the students to go bring all the other teachers.

More and more people gathered around but Qiangu doesn’t care. With everyone here, she is going to give them a piece of her mind today. How could they use her as a bet, did none of them have something better to do? However, all of Qiangu’s bravado evaporates when her eyes meet Bai Zihua’s cool calm ones. Wait! Why should she be the one flustered? She is not the one at fault here.

“Bai Zihua! Why did you use me as a bet? As a respected teacher, don’t you feel ashamed!  And why did you use such a despicable method but refuses to admit it! I want you to swear to heaven in front of the whole school that you didn’t kiss me that night! ”

Listening to the instant hooting from the crowd mixed with a few angry complaints that Bai Zihua broke the rules, Qiangu’s felt even worse as she took that to mean Liuhuo was telling her the truth.

After a long moment, Bai Zihua finally spoke, “I kissed.”

The crowd responded with an even louder roar. Her eyes widen in shock, Qiangu thought she must’ve heard wrong.

A hint of smile flashes across Bai Zihua’s eyes with the slightest upward tilting in the corner of his mouth as he stares at Qiangu’s face flushed bright red.

“So, you want me to take responsibility?”

“I, I….” Stunned by his unexpected public admission, Qiangu was completely flustered.

“That’s so unfair! Most Honorable, you cheated!” The crowd complained loudly. How could Most Honorable be so sly!

Unable to get a word out as Bai Zihua steps forward and gaze at her with bright eyes that reminded her of how he looked that night…eyes brighter than any star.

“Do you like me?” His voice was low and husky…like an enchantment that instantly held her very soul spellbound as the memories of that unforgettable kiss come rushing back Qiangu.

Utterly amazed, Sha Qianmo stuffs a piece of cake into his mouth and shakes his head “Dang, Bai Zihua is good. He is even playing the seduction card. I acknowledge defeat!”

“Li…Lik…”

Just when Hua Qiangu almost said the word, Liuhuo yells “Hey, Hua Qiangu! Don’t wimp out!”

Snapping out of her daze, Qiangu’s face turns bright red. She almost got seduced again even when she knows full well that he is lying to her. No matter what, she will not let him win!

“I don’t like you! I like Liuhuo! We are going to get married!”

…………………………….

There was dead silence as the crowd looks around in confusion.

The bet is over?

The cake come flying out of Sha Qianmo’s mouth. What? What happened? Who the heck is Liuhuo?!

Everyone that was part of the bet was equally confused. Where did this Liuhuo come from? The bet was about to hit its climax but then it ended it in a splutter because of some unknown person? Bai Zihua lost? And the winner wasn’t Dong Feng?

Bai Zihua’s expression obviously wasn’t good but it wasn’t too bad either. Even if Qiangu refused to admit it, but in truth, he was the one that won…right?

A laughing Liuhuo walks up and pats Qiangu on the shoulder “Qiangu, you are awesome! BUT, a good girl doesn’t look elsewhere while she is already married.”

Qiangu’s leg almost buckles under her as bursts of memories begin to fill her mind and her eyes slowly become blurry as well.

Sticking his face close to Qiangu, Liuhuo asks “Qiangu, can you still recognize me? This time around I have a face, you have to remember what I look like okay?”

An overwhelming joy came with dazzling waves of memories, Qiangu yells “Shuo Feng! You are Shuo Feng…you are back…” even as her world is once again plunged into total darkness.
