Good Bye My Princess (Chinese Drama, New)
Based on the novel of the same name, Good Bye My Princess tells the epic love story between our two leads who are supposed to be archenemies.
This one has a beautiful looking cast and I liked the first episode enough that I went searching for the novel…then promptly gave up any thought of following this one…at least until it finishes and I can make sure it ends happily. Both the novel and the drama do look fairly solid though so for those of you who don’t mind crying your eyes out then this one would be worth checking out.
I Will Never Let You Go (Chinese Drama)
This one has been a lot of fun so far! I am caught up to about episode 25 and while the story has been a tad bit draggy the last three episodes, I am still enjoying the show nonetheless.
By the way, can I just say how thoroughly impressed I am that despite being 11 years older than her costar Vin Zhang in real life, Ariel Lin not only still looks completely natural playing a young girl but she also looks great with Vin Zhang as well.
The picture on the left is from 2008 C-classic The Legend of Condor Hero starring Ariel Lin and Hu Ge. How crazy is it that Ariel Lin really hasn’t changed all that much in 10 years?!

The Fiery Priest (Korean Drama, New)
Kim Nam Gil’s new drama where he plays a rather easily angered, rude Catholic priest with a tendency to solve anything with his fist first. Honey Lee is our heroine, a spunky and ambitious prosecutor who is very good at her job. Due to a murder case involving a senior Catholic priest, our hero will soon cross path with our heroine.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I checked this one out but was pleasantly surprised by the wacky fun vibe it had. The villains all feel like your stereotypical sort BUT that is balanced by the fact that all the leads are quite eccentric…in a rather violent way. The show also has a strong comic vibe to it which I love.

The Last Empress (Korean Drama)
This one is ending soon (next week, total 52 episodes) so I decided to go back and check it out. I am caught up to episode 30 and was a bit stunned by the sudden change of the show’s vibe. Up to about episode 28, while there were some comedic moments here and there, the show overall is quite dark, filled with downright psychotic villains every corner. However, from episode 28 on, there was an abrupt change in the show’s tone to one of laugh out loud comedy. As one who always love a good comedy, I of course don’t mind the change but I was still a bit thrown off nonetheless.
With Dramafever gone, I was hopeful when it was rumored that ondemandkorea would pick up most of the shows that used to be owned by Dramafever. However, after waiting in vain for the last few months I was starting to lose hope. Over the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Love O2O, among quite a few others is now on Netflix. I am trying to keep my expectations in check but I REALLY hope Netflix will start to pick up dramas Viki.com is leaving out.

I Hate You Juliet (Korean Drama, New)
F.T. Island Lee Hong Ki’s new romantic comedy where he plays a top star who enrolls into an arts university and ends up falling in love with our bumbling heroine after a rough start.
A rough start indeed…the first episode was really bland that I pretty much lost interest. I probably really should give it another chance but I can’t see myself going back to this one unless one of you guys tell me that it improves dramatically later.
Back Street Girls (Japanese Drama, New)
Desperate to stay alive after committing a big mistake, three young yakuza members reluctantly agree to their boss’ scheme of having them undergo sex change then turning them into a female idol group. After a lot of operations and hard work (out of fear of their boss), the three young men…now women finally debut as female idol group “Gokudoruzu” but despite their appearance they are still tough young men at heart.
This one caught my interest right away because of its hilarious premise. Back Street Girls is based on a popular comic of the same name by Jasmine Gyuh which is why the show has plenty of the comic humor J-drama is so good at.

i’m following “I Will Never Let You Go” until eps 33 and it’s pretty good
I was also about to ask you if I should invest myself in Goodbye My Princess because even though the trailer looks awesome, I read that it is a tragic love story and I don’t want to watch another sad ending no matter how good looking the cast and production value is! And this was after watching it raw coz I can’t find eng subs for it anywhere. Guess I got my answer! *sigh!
I can’t find subs or for that matter even raw episodes for Legend anywhere.
I’m watching I Will Never Let You Go off and on. But I agree with you…I too need the exilir that Ariel Lin drank! She hasn’t aged a bit!!
Thanks for all the hardwork!
I fell for that trailer too but after I checked out the novel and the old drama, I let it pass since it truly is Makjang. I don’t mind a sad ending when it fits, and it really does since I really hate when the heroine is constantly “abused” by the scriptwriter.
OMG! Really? Ok then! It’s a pass! I really can’t abide by a sad ending esp if I’ve watched the couple fight for their love for the last 40/50/60/70 episodes!! On top of that if they are going to treat the heroine as a doormat then it’s truly a ‘Thank You, Next!’
Thanks Usi for the timely warning!
Btw, King of Blaze is not available on Viki in my region… *rolling eyes..
Try a VPN client, it works with Viki. My subscription otherwise would be wasted since I live in a region who often can’t watch even when a subtitle in my native language is available. But I prefer it in English anyway. I watch English subs since 25 years, it would be weird to switch now XD.
Or try FastDrama.me ;).
Thanks!
I tried the site, it does have the subs for dramas I want but ‘m unable to watch anything. The site keeps refreshing itself automatically and the video says ‘No Direct Access: Link Embedded in the Site’ *sigh So close yet so far…
Thanks anyways!
Though I also get tired and frustrated from watching Good omances end up in the Tragedy basket almost always SOMETIMES inexplicably the tragic ending is more suitable and more fitting than a happy ending would have been! This C-drama has great music and I specially like the 2nd male lead- the whole story from the beginning is tinged with melancholy. But though it may make people cry buckets its also a testament to the good portrayal by the actors of their characters and their emotions so I guess its not all bad.
Netflix has quite a collection of Asian shows but they are the ones that have been subbed already by different platforms.
They aren’t picking up any new dramas and subbing them like Dramafever did or Viki is doing.
They are more into creating original content. Though ‘m hoping they start subbing as well. That would certainly skyrocket their subscriptions!
Netflix is subbing a few new dramas, but very few. They had worldwide exclusive for Mr. Sunshine, Memories of the Alhambra, and now Romance Is A Bonus Book. They upload the episodes weekly as it airs in Korea. I think they also did weekly upload for Prison Playbook and Life in certain regions, and then upload all episodes after it was finished for the rest of the regions. Plus their Original K Drama Kingdom Season 1 which they dropped Jan. 25 with all 6 episodes available, as is custom for Netflix originals. However, the vast majority of K Dramas at Netflix are those that have already completed.
But they have started doing a little bit of weekly uploads like Viki, Kocowa, and ondemandkorea.
To answer @ninjareflection regarding the Dramafever exclusives, Netflix picked up some of the Chinese dramas like Love O2O and Ten Miles Peach Blossom/Eternal Love. Now I just see a whole bunch of DF dramas on the coming soon page for Viki. Third Charm, Devilish Joy, Beauty Inside, The Package, Princess Weiyoung, General and I. So I think Viki got a lot of the old liscenses. Perhaps more will be coming for Viki and Netflix.
