Good Bye My Princess (Chinese Drama, New)
Based on the novel of the same name, Good Bye My Princess tells the epic love story between our two leads who are supposed to be archenemies.
This one has a beautiful looking cast and I liked the first episode enough that I went searching for the novel…then promptly gave up any thought of following this one…at least until it finishes and I can make sure it ends happily. Both the novel and the drama do look fairly solid though so for those of you who don’t mind crying your eyes out then this one would be worth checking out.
I Will Never Let You Go (Chinese Drama)
This one has been a lot of fun so far! I am caught up to about episode 25 and while the story has been a tad bit draggy the last three episodes, I am still enjoying the show nonetheless.

By the way, can I just say how thoroughly impressed I am that despite being 11 years older than her costar Vin Zhang in real life, Ariel Lin not only still looks completely natural playing a young girl but she also looks great with Vin Zhang as well.

The picture on the left is from 2008 C-classic The Legend of Condor Hero starring Ariel Lin and Hu Ge. How crazy is it that Ariel Lin really hasn’t changed all that much in 10 years?!

The Fiery Priest (Korean Drama, New)
Kim Nam Gil’s new drama where he plays a rather easily angered, rude Catholic priest with a tendency to solve anything with his fist first. Honey Lee is our heroine, a spunky and ambitious prosecutor who is very good at her job. Due to a murder case involving a senior Catholic priest, our hero will soon cross path with our heroine.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I checked this one out but was pleasantly surprised by the wacky fun vibe it had. The villains all feel like your stereotypical sort BUT that is balanced by the fact that all the leads are quite eccentric…in a rather violent way. The show also has a strong comic vibe to it which I love.

The Last Empress (Korean Drama)
This one is ending soon (next week, total 52 episodes) so I decided to go back and check it out. I am caught up to episode 30 and was a bit stunned by the sudden change of the show’s vibe. Up to about episode 28, while there were some comedic moments here and there, the show overall is quite dark, filled with downright psychotic villains every corner. However, from episode 28 on, there was an abrupt change in the show’s tone to one of laugh out loud comedy. As one who always love a good comedy, I of course don’t mind the change but I was still a bit thrown off nonetheless.

With Dramafever gone, I was hopeful when it was rumored that ondemandkorea would pick up most of the shows that used to be owned by Dramafever. However, after waiting in vain for the last few months I was starting to lose hope.  Over the weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Love O2O, among quite a few others is now on Netflix. I am trying to keep my expectations in check but I REALLY hope Netflix will start to pick up dramas Viki.com is leaving out.

I Hate You Juliet (Korean Drama, New)
F.T. Island Lee Hong Ki’s new romantic comedy where he plays a top star who enrolls into an arts university and ends up falling in love with our bumbling heroine after a rough start.

A rough start indeed…the first episode was really bland that I pretty much lost interest. I probably really should give it another chance but I can’t see myself going back to this one unless one of you guys tell me that it improves dramatically later.
Back Street Girls (Japanese Drama, New)
Desperate to stay alive after committing a big mistake, three young yakuza members reluctantly agree to their boss’ scheme of having them undergo sex change then turning them into a female idol group. After a lot of operations and hard work (out of fear of their boss), the three young men…now women finally debut as female idol group “Gokudoruzu” but despite their appearance they are still tough young men at heart.

This one caught my interest right away because of its hilarious premise. Back Street Girls is based on a popular comic of the same name by Jasmine Gyuh which is why the show has plenty of the comic humor J-drama is so good at.
