I must’ve lost my mind during the holidays because I had no clue that Song Seung Heon is playing the hero in this one until I started watching it. Since the two leads really only shared two extremely short scenes in the first two episodes, it is too early to tell what their chemistry will be like but the acting were solid all around. Song Seung Heon plays the hero who is a playboy on the outside but secretly only ever loving one woman for life. Judging by the few scenes Song Seung Heon was in, the role fit him quite well and I am looking forward to see what he does with such a complex character.

Saimdang, Light’s Dairy obviously aired to great expectations since this is actress Lee Young Ae’s long awaited return to the small screen after the very successful Jewel in the Palace (2003). As a fan of Jewel in the Palace, it was very refreshing to see Lee Young Ae switching between her modern role and her much more familiar historical one when her character travels back in time.

As far as the story goes, I am afraid I am still fairly confused which direction the writer is going to take this story since the first two episodes were pretty much spent on character set up. I am definitely intrigued by the time traveling element so I am hoping the next two episodes will show us some solid story progression …and hopefully great chemistry between the leads to make Saimdang a winner.
