“….Da Yue’s commanding general was enraged and wanted to kill Offical Wei by a thousand cuts on the top of the city wall to break our army’s morale. Official Wei climbed right onto the wall ledge, spread his arms, and snapped all of the ropes off himself. Fury sparkled in Official Wei’s eyes that were as big as copper bells, his majestic broad chest with eight pectoral muscles blocked the sinking sun and moon. With his fist raised to the sky, he shouted “My lads! Death is nothing to be afraid of! Twenty years later, we will be good strapping lads again! Charge!” The enemy army was so shocked by General Wei’s heroic words that they trembled and fell to the ground, not daring to move. General Wei looked back at them with contempt and resolutely jumped…”

“Ah…” For the one hundred and thirty-seventh time, the people begin to shed tears again.

“Ah! Since the beginning of time, who has escaped death? Once departed, it would be impossible to meet again, my friend. The oriole (a kind of bird) sings among the green willow. The boat has passed a thousand mountains!” (This is a poem someone made on the spot.)

The young man who supposedly was not quite right in the head buried his head on the table, his shoulders shaking. The young man next to him was drinking his wine leisurely but if one looked closely enough you would see that his hand was shaking a bit too.

“Good poem…good poem…good general…good general…eyes like copper bells…eight pectoral muscles…” The one not right in the head reached out with trembling hands, struggling to take hold of the teapot.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Everyone was already keeping their eyes on these two strange men. They had at first assumed the guy must be crying when they saw his shoulders shaking but when he had raised his head to reach for the teapot, there was no trace of tears on his face. The smile on the corner of the guy’s eyes had not yet faded…so he was laughing?

The people were angered.

The people were upset for General Wei.

The pure and beautiful emotions of the people must not be trampled on by these two arrogant and frivolous boys.

Such a courageous and fearless deed that made all who heard it shed tears of admiration. Yet these two people were actually unmoved and made a mockery of it? Intolerable and unbearable! We might be able to remain calm if you cursed our family but we will not stand for you to not cry for General Wei!

“Beat them!”

The crowd shouted in unison. The place immediately turned into chaos, with countless jumping over tables and scampering onto the counters, taking their shoes in hand, the people rushed towards those two unlucky chaps. Eggs, peanuts, tea, and spit were flying all over. Seeing the situation is not good, the two unlucky chaps flipped over their table, and dived under it with their hands covering their heads.

Countless pairs of feet kicked in, giving the two unlucky chaps a bunch of footprints on their body.

Just when the fight was at the height of the chaos, a shout came from afar.

“The Marquis of Zhongyi (which means loyalty), General Wei, has returned to the capital! The high-ranking scholars have led the entire court official to go welcome him..hurry, let’s go see…..”

In the next instant, the room was emptied of people.

“Huh?” The two unlucky chaps squatted under the table. The one not quite right in the head asked the other one, “Weren’t they supposed to welcome you tomorrow? We snuck out of the inn, so who are they welcoming?”

The other one didn’t answer, wondering why the yell just now sounded a bit familiar? A corner of moon white robe appeared. A person bent down and extended a hand in, the palm was as white as jade.

A voice with laughter in it immediately followed.

“Naturally to come to pick you up.”

There were two people under the table, but his hand had stopped with precision in front of one person.

The person looked up, under the somewhat disheveled long hair revealed a pair of misty eyes. Eyes belong to Feng Zhi Wei.

The one beside her with a pair of eyes as sharp as blades and the one who had previously been overtaken with spasms of laughter was naturally Hua Qiong.

The two had arrived at the imperial capital a day early. Since the Ministry of Rites had informed them that on the morrow the civil and military officials will welcome Wei Zhi on behalf of the emperor, the two had no choice but to wait in an inn outside of the city first. Bored out of their minds, the two snuck out for a drink while Zong Chen was brewing medicine and Gu Nan Yi was giving Zhi Xiao a bath. Who knew they would end up hearing such marvelous storytelling at the restaurant and almost suffered a beating?

It’s always good to have someone to come save the day…it’s just that certain someone is…

Hua Qiong cast her eyes down, thinking inwardly that the time to test Zong Chen’s medical skill had come.

Feng Zhi Wei slowly raised her head, her gaze swept past the fingertips that were white as jade until she saw the moon-white sleeves embroidered with patterns of dark green bamboo. Her expression was calm with a hint of a smile, with slight polite detachment. Looking just like how she had interacted with Ning Yi in front of others back when they were at South Sea, with nothing amiss. Even Hua Qiong, who was inches away, could not find anything out of place.

After a moment, she smiled, stretched out her hand, and placed her fingertips on Ning Yi’s palm.

Ning Yi immediately took her hand, with a slight force, helped Feng Zhi Wei climb out of the table.

When their eyes met, Feng Zhi Wei was the first to flash a very courtly polite smile at Ning Yi.

“Your Highness has also arrived? Haha.”

“Only a day before you.” Ning Yi smiled.

The two looked at each other and smiled. Both smiled brightly, as if the one year parting, the seven days of shocking hatred in the imperial capital, the bloodstains of two people’s lives had never existed.

Hua Qiong breathed a sigh of relief and let out a laugh of self-derision, “Ah, this poor person could only climb out by herself.”

Three pairs of hands were extended towards her at the same time.

Ning Yi, Feng Zhi Wei, and another pair of hands.

The other pair of hands appeared quite abruptly as if they appeared out of thin air, and the fingers were trembling.

Hua Qiong stared at that pair of hands.

It didn’t have the pampering belonging to a royal. Not really white or slender. On the palm of the hand, there is a shallow semicircular scar. That burn scar came from his childhood when he accidentally fell while trying to take a fire basin to his mother. The faint cut scar on his middle came from when he had climbed a tree to go see his mother.

Those hands are all too familiar. She had personally witnessed those hands go from the tender small hands belonging to a seven-year-old to grow into the steady hand of a man. The hand that is so familiar to her that she dreams night after night holding it, telling its owner all of her deepest longings but only to wake up in tears.

Those hands have now come out of her dreams, traveling thousands of miles from South Sea to her.

Hua Qiong sniffled and suddenly smiled.

She reached out her hands and placed them in Yan Huai Shi’s palms. Yan Huai Shi promptly exerted some force to pull her out but Hua Quiong suddenly grabbed his hand and give him a hard pull. Yan Huai Shi let out a grump of surprise and was promptly pulled into the underside of the table by Hua Qiong.

Left standing outside of the table, Ning Yi and Feng Zhi Wei were dumbfounded…

“Why should we go out and let you guys watch a show?” Hua Qiong’s voice came from under the table. Her voice was a bit muffled as if her face has been pressed into someone’s chest, “We have reunited after a long time, the feelings are too arduous and too impatient to go back to the inn. I will ask a favor of the two of you to clear the place for us.”

Hua Qiong’s hand then reached out from under the table and waved it casually, asking His Highness and the Lord Marquis to go clear the place for her.

Yan Huai Shi seemingly had no time to talk at all, or perhaps was too embarrassed to say anything? Anyway, the table was just shaking…and shaking…

Feng Zhi Wei held back her laughter and called the restaurant owner over. Thanks to one gold nugget, the owner was more than willing to close the restaurant and even made sure all the servers stayed far far away.
