This week has been…awful. I have been trying to convince myself that losing over two years worth of blog posts is nothing as long as I can keep writing…but of course that’s easier said than done. Oh, well. Nothing that more drama watching can’t sooth.
Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Chinese Drama, New)
Based on a novel of the same name, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms tells the epic love story between two gods and their romantic entanglement spanning three life times.
Mark Zhao plays the hero and it took a bit for me to get used to seeing him in a historical fantasy drama but I think I could get used to a cool aloof godlike Mark Zhao. Judging by the first couple episodes, I thought Yang Mi is doing a pretty good job portraying our spunky heroine. For those who are following Pretty Li Hui Zhen right now, you might be pleased to know that Dilraba Dilmurat and Zhang Bin Bin (he plays the male second lead in Pretty Li Hui Zhen) are both in this one as well…although not as a couple.
ps. The movie version of Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, starring Liu Yi Fei and Yang Yang will be out this year as well.
Tao Hua Yuan (Chinese Drama, New)
This one feels a lot like the modern school version of Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms since it shares a lot of same elements of past lives, gods, supernatural powers and of course fated love.
Lots of newbie actors in this one so the acting is a bit uneven…especially in the ancient past life flash backs but at least the modern parts (which is the majority of the show) weren’t too bad so don’t write this off automatically.
Love Just Come (Chinese Drama, New)
The unlikely romance between a girl who possesses a “perfect” sense of smell and a rich spoiled playboy. To be brutally honest, both male leads in this C-modern romance are not what I would consider eye candies but maybe I am finally becoming less shallow (Ha! Not likely…) I actually found this one an easy watch despite the rather predicable plot.
The Glory of Tang Dynasty (Chinese Drama, New)
EPIC C-historical drama. Lots of court intrigue, war and romance. I am not familiar with either leads so I went into this once with low expectations but it was actually pretty decent. The two leads’ romance looks promising enough that I might just give this one a chance despite my usual aversion to long C-historical dramas.
Rebel Thief Who Stole the People (Korean Drama, New)
The latest Hong Gil-Dong drama. The first two episodes were spent on the hero’s childhood so pretty depressing all around but the acting was superb. If the rest of the show could be the same caliber as the first two episodes then this one would be worth sticking around for.
Hwarang (Korean Drama)
I haven’t been following Hwarang but Mama Ninja has been loving this one. In fact, she is so in love with Park Seo Joon that she even quizzed me about all the shows he has been in. Answer: I directed her to She Was Pretty and Kill Me, Heal Me.
Thank goodness I managed to locate your web page, I was so frustrated when google said it was 404 error server not available.
Keep up your good & hard work, a big fan of yours right here, you mention dramas that I would never even think to watch! I’m so grateful to you, because I check them out and find they are so good.
Fighting! 👍🏻😀
I’m so glad you’re back. Thank you! Your new webpage is a little unfamiliar but I’ll get used to it. Fighting!
Ha, I feel kinda lost too. I was so used to blogger it is taking me a lot longer this time around to relearn another system.
